Publisher's Summary

This is a prequel for the Donavan Chronicles. In the Middle Eastern conflict, one group of dedicated men have contrived to build a nuclear device - not to detonate on American soil but on their own in order to cripple the industrial might of the West. One small team of DIA operatives is dispatched to ensure the failure of that plan. Nothing ever goes as planned.

Exciting book

This was a really exciting book. There is a lot of action and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. Though this is fiction, it seems very realistic. I listened to the Audible audio version narrated by David Dietz. He does a good job overall, but I have a little problem with his "frantic" female voices, which tend to come across a little whiny to my ear. Fortunately, there is less of that in this book than I have listened to in other books narrated by him. Overall, a good book, and if you like stories about the Middle East, I recommend giving this one a try.

Espionage Prequil To Donavan Chronicles Intense

Where does Secret of the Oil rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I've read too many to rank. Among this type (espionage) probably the middle. Vince Flynn will always be the bar to beat.

What did you like best about this story?

Learning the cast of characters, the hints toward their plans. It is always neat to unravel these complex story lines.

Have you listened to any of David Dietz’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not, but he is an excellent performer. Dietz's was born with the voice to narrate this book/series.

Any additional comments?

This is a prequel to the Donovan Chronicles, with the potential to be a 5 stars series.

I don't know enough about espionage/or technical weaponry to know if it is accurate or not, but it kept me entertained. It kept me listening and lead to a satisfactory yet cliffhanging ending. Great accomplishment.

Notes: violent and strong language

*I was given a copy of this in exchange for this review.

--> Thanks for reading my thoughts on this ~ I find that reviews help me in deciding whether or not to purchase a books, especially new authors or performers. If you found this review helpful, would you take a moment and select 'YES' below the next paragraph?
