Publisher's Summary

Jon Bennett is a top Wall Street strategist turned senior White House advisor. But nothing has prepared him for the terror that he will face. Saddam Hussein dispatches his top hit men to assassinate the President of the United States. Iraqi terrorists spread carnage throughout London, Paris, and Riyadh...and the Butcher of Baghdad has a nuclear ace in his hand that he has not yet played.

Only a solid Arab-Israeli coalition against Iraq can keep the U.S. and other Western nations from certain devastation. And only Bennett and his beautiful partner, Erin McCoy, can make that happen. Their secret project - a billion dollar oil deal off the coast of Gaza - could be the basis for an historic peace treaty and enormous wealth for every Israeli and Palestinian.

But just before the treaty can be signed, Israeli commandos foil an Iraqi scud missile launch, recovering a nuclear warhead and evidence that the next attack will level Washington, New York, and Tel Aviv.

Now, the Israeli prime minister gives the American President an ultimatum: melt down Baghdad within one hour...or Israel will do it herself.

From Jerusalem, Bennett and McCoy must summon all of their stealth and savvy to save themselves - and the world - from absolute destruction.

Critic Reviews

"Dick Hill performs this thriller with practiced ease, speeding up when the tension should rise and relaxing through the backstory....[D]oomsday predictions and a spectacular ending bring Rosenberg's speculations to a dramatic conclusion." ( AudioFile)

The Best

Dick Hill is amazing! It seems to me that he could read a grocery list and make it exciting.
I got through "The Last Jihad" in a couple of days. The second half of the book I listened to without interruption. I simply could not turn it off. If you are interested in a political/military story that is heavily slanted toward the US, you will not be disappointed.

Great book ... worth the listening to

Great book that lays out a good perspective of what could happen. OK for the naysayers it is a book from a Christian perspective, if you don't appreciate a book of this sort, don't buy and don't write negative comments. If you want a good political book with the theme of Christianity throughout, this is a book for you

Not so much the book but the narration

I found this book riveting not so much about the book but the narrator brought the book alive. Some of the book seemed out there but overall a good book.

Very interesting

I thought this book was soooo interesting. I couldn't stop listening to it. I ususally listen in the car, but I found that I had to bring my Ipod in and listen at home too. I can't wait to listen to the rest of the series. I think everyone will love this book. It is a thriller for sure. Thanks to the author (very well written).

Disappointed After First Reading Twelfth Imam

What disappointed you about The Last Jihad?

After having first read The Twelfth Imam and The Teheran Initiative (which I thought were outstanding books), I felt the The Last Jihad, both the writing and the performance, were very amateurish. I was amazed at how improved Rosenberg apparently was by The Twelfth Imam.

Would you ever listen to anything by Joel C. Rosenberg again?

Yes, I would listen to Rosenberg again, but only the books written after The Twelfth Imam.

Would you be willing to try another one of Dick Hill’s performances?

I would prefer not to listen to Dick Hill as a reader. I did not like his voice or performance.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

This book was a great disappointment to me. It almost seemed like it was written by someone in high school.

Any additional comments?

Politically, I am conservative, and I was greatly disappointed in this book. I saw on someone's review that this book is just right wing propaganda. I don't think so, but I think the book is how the left perceives the right to be.

Very good if you like The Twelth Imam series

What did you love best about The Last Jihad?

A good fictional account of how the middle east conflict could have played out or possibly still can. Rosenberg's style of writing is James Bond crossed with Mission Impossible without the fancy over the top gadgets super villians. The historical accounts the he incorporates requires you to do a reality check at times because you forget what is fact and what is fiction.

What other book might you compare The Last Jihad to and why?

The Twelth Imam, The Tehran Initiative, Damascus Countdown, A Time to Betray.

Have you listened to any of Dick Hill’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, he narrated the first Lee Child book in the Jack Reacher series, The Killing Floor. He is a great narrator. I love how the characters come to life when he reads.

A Good Listen In Spite of Being Out Dated

Dick Hill's performance is great. While I think Rosenberg is a good writer, the fact that many events are out of date or ended up with very different results (ie: the Taliban has been decimated in the book, but is still very much alive in real life) takes away from the book for the 2012 listener. On the other hand, it makes me curious about how Rosenberg will deal with those issues later in the series.

Wonderful political thriller with great narration!

Warning: Those who object to listening to audiobooks written by overtly Christian authors should stay away from Joel C Rosenburg. The Last Jihad is an excellent political thriller that is made even better by Dick Hill's narration. Highly recommended!
