Publisher's Summary

Her bare feet stuck to the frost as she ran. She wanted to scream out loud, but she knew he’d find her if she made a noise. As she stopped to listen for his heavy footsteps, she wondered if she would ever make it out alive....

As funeral mourners stand in silence at Ragmullin cemetery, a deafening cry cuts through the air. Lying crumpled at the bottom of an open grave is the bloodied body of a young woman, and Detective Lottie Parker is called in to investigate.

Knowing the body can’t have been there long, Lottie wonders if it could be Elizabeth Bryne, a young woman who vanished without trace just days earlier. And with a new boss who seems to have it in for her, Lottie is under pressure to solve both cases quickly.

As two more women go missing from Ragmullin, Lottie and her team fear there is a serial killer on the loose. And the disappearances are strikingly similar to a cold case from 10 years earlier. Could history be repeating itself?

As journalists begin to interfere with Lottie’s investigation, she fears the killer is about to strike again. Lottie is in a race against time to find the missing women, but the killer is closer than she thinks. Could Lottie be his next target?

If you love Angela Marsons, Robert Bryndza, and Rachel Abbott, you'll love the latest pulse-pounding thriller from Patricia Gibney. No Safe Place will keep you guessing until the very last second.

Tired of Lottie Parker Being Treated like crap

Every book in this series depicted Lottie Parker as a meek little lady that everyone treated like crap. Seriously, why do writers insist on have strong female characters whose male bosses humiliate, degrade, and constantly threatens suspension, demotion, are being fired and every case is solved successfully by that same lowlife chief detective. I mean seriously, the main storylines are great and suspenseful but you disrespect your female audience when, in every novel you allow the heroine to be slammed and cursed for absolutely no reason.

Lottie Parker - book 4

Love this series, I really like having a smart but flawed female lead. Narration is one of my all time favorites. Keeps me searching for clues and guessing.

What an emotional roller coaster!

This was an amazing book! I love the Lottie Parker series and at the end of each book, I am left dumbfounded that I didn’t see the twist coming! I couldn’t sleep last night so I started listening at 4:00 am and listening for a full four hours! The epilogue left me dying for the next book to come out! I hope this is not the end of this series!!

Captivating!

I came upon this series by accident, but it has been the best accident ever!
I’m obsessed with these books and listened to this one in less than 2 days.
The writing and the performance are superb! The vision of the story in my head make me want to be a detective and move to Ireland.

The best yet!

DI Lottie Parker is such a great character - flawed and wonderful. Great supporting players, a suspenseful plot, and perfect narration, as always, by Michele Moran. Can't wait for #5!

EXCELLENT SERIES!!!

I have enjoyed this entire series! The ending let's us know that there is another release to follow and for that, I'm delighted! The story-line is extremely good. Unlike the 3rd book in the series, there were just enough characters involved to make it intriguing and yet easy to follow! I still am not crazy about Michele Moran as the narrator. Her voice does not change from male to female when appropriate. I have to listen closely to know who is speaking.

Anyway, I'm ready for a new release! I hope it comes soon! So worth the credit!

Lottie, I'm Disappointed

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Only to faithful followers of the series

Would you recommend No Safe Place to your friends? Why or why not?

No. I had trouble relating to Lottie in this book, I doubt a reader new to the series would get through book four.

Was No Safe Place worth the listening time?

For the narration and the basic plot, yes.

Any additional comments?

Lottie, if we were friends I'd be sitting you down and telling you to shape up. Gone is the somewhat flawed but well-intentioned protagonist. You're wallowing in bad habits, making no attempt to move yourself forward. You're randomly rude and mean to other characters, coming off as abrasive and stubborn rather than independent. Please seek counselling from Ms. Gibney before Book Five comes out.

It's a family affair

Really enjoy the D.I Parker series but a few things starting to niggle. every story always seems to centre around at least family member off the team which is pretty high odds of actually happening to any unsuspecting police force! lots of murders/crime surrounding the team must surely be moved on and just let Lottie and her team deal with a major incident without a family member dragged in. Please, please move the saga of Boyd and Lottie on really becoming annoying, at least give them a bit more off a solid ground, the on off on off is like being at a traffic island and not sure which exit to take even though you know where your going. All of said the books are really enjoyable, read well and the base line story draws you in. Would recommend them.

Gripping, twisting plot and interesting characters

What made the experience of listening to No Safe Place the most enjoyable?

This is yet another brilliant Patricia Gibney book - although this small part of Ireland does seem to have a lot of weird crimes!! It is twisting, very believable and the story was shocking and fascinating at the same time. The reader, Michele Moran, captures the voices and the moods brilliantly and this adds to the story a lot. Great "read". Can't wait for her next novel.

What other book might you compare No Safe Place to, and why?

Any other Patricia Gibney thriller. All brilliant, well written and performed.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The story made me shudder, occasionally lose patience with the characters and sad for them too.

Ah Lottie, you've done it again!

We can all relate to Lottie Parker trying to fit work, family and romance into a busy life, Patricia Gibney writes a human story and manages to put a few twists in there just to keep us guessing.
