Not finished, and Not Going to Bother

Painful. This book is really lame - at least for me. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for a weak and unbelievable story that's mushy with romance. Maybe I've outgrown romantic thrillers.

Basically, the main character, who was the serial killer's victim 16 years ago, and whose baby was killed by said killer, is asked to come back to help with the case when the murderer re-emerges 16 years later. Yeah. Okay. Let's just pull a damaged victim out of hiding to help catch the guy.

The main male character is okay, has a strained relationship with his adopted son.

Blah blah blah.

I just can't bear to listen to any more.

Get this book if you are a fan of romantic thrillers. You might like it. I prefer no romance with my murder, whenever possible.

If Audible had a "Donate Your Used Book Bin", I would throw it in in a heartbeat.

Compelling and deliciously creepy

I've been a regular reader of Anne Frasier's thrillers for as long as she's been writing them. What a happy surprise to see that Hush has made its way to audio!

Narrator Emily Beresford convincingly brings Frasier's characters to life with distinct voices for all. It's a tautly written serial killer police procedural, an intelligent and meaty story. Frasier's hero and heroine are refreshingly human; a welcome change from the stick figure kickass heroine and waxed-torso-of-steel hero so prevalent in recent romantic suspense.

I'd love to see more of Frasier's suspense brought to audio. Ditto her romances written as Theresa Weir.

Ehh, it's alright

Any additional comments?

The narrator actually did a fantastic job.. she was very enthusiastic, and made the creepiness come alive in the book... However, I wasn't a fan of how many characters there were in the book, because it just jumped around too much.

I also noticed that I started losing interest about half way through, but I didn't want to quit without finding out the end since I paid for it. I would not have paid for it if I had known how it would be. It just wasn't all that interesting to me.

Disjointed

Where does Hush rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

There's so much potential in this story, but ultimately it felt like a puzzle that never quite fit together. It's disjointed and skips around a lot and leaves this listener feeling unfocused.

Has Hush turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. I like the genre.

Which character – as performed by Emily Beresford – was your favorite?

Emily did a good job with her narration. Some of the characters were difficult to distinguish if there were several in a conversation. She has a pleasant voice and is suited to this genre.

Hush was an excellent listen!

What did you love best about Hush?

The story-it was a different and interesting take on serial killer and capture. Also like to side stories. the characters were fleshed out pretty well and engaging.

Which scene was your favorite?

Without giving it away-when one of the cops "woke up"

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cringed a couple of times.

Any additional comments?

I felt the beginning was VERY slow and the mixture of first and last name use was confusing. Especially in the beginning.

This book is so boring and stereotypical

Wow, so boring and so many stereotypes. It is awful. Nothing at all like some of her other books that I have read. The performance is wooden, which doesn't help since the story just crawls along, sad and predictable. I'm not sure when she wrote this, but it has anachronism s galore. Her other books are so good, which makes this all the sadder.

Frightening Serial Killer~Fascinating Story

Though not for the faint of heart, I really enjoyed this story. Max and Ivy are likable characters (would love to see a sequel) and if this were a print book, I would call it a real page turner. The ending, in my opinion, was just perfect.

Not a cookie cutter

If you could sum up Hush in three words, what would they be?

interesting, suspenseful, fresh

What other book might you compare Hush to and why?

Hush is a crime drama much like many others but the storyline is quite fresh and UNLIKE any other I've personally read.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

I found Ms. Beresford's narration to be stiff and slow in the beginning but she seemed to warm up to the story so that by about the middle of the book, I was able to lose myself in the book and forget about the narration.

Any additional comments?

If you enjoy stories involving psychopathic killers, this will be an enjoyable read for you.

A Total Waste of Time

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

can't recommend it to anyone

What was most disappointing about Anne Frasier’s story?

Less than a quarter into the story it was disappointingly clear the direction of the plot and the outcome of the story. Characters were flat, uninteresting. Story was one big cop/mystery trope

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No. I live in Chicago and am always looking for stories that take place here. I like to be able to put myself in the environment. I didn't recognize any of the locations mentioned. This could have taken place anywhere big city USA

Crazy good listen

Great story line and kept me listening way longer than planned. I couldn't stop listening once I started. I don't want to give anything away but just listen to it. It's very captivating.
