Publisher's summary

Scott Manson and London City are in Athens, battling for the UEFA Champion's League title. The situation in Athens is tense, and some of city's players are so unpopular in Greece they've been assigned bodyguards. Karaiskakis Stadium is packed to the rafters when tragedy strikes: Christoph Bundchen collapses and dies mid-match. Is it a heart attack? Or something more sinister?

A compelling listen... with an unsatisfactory end.

Whilst this was a compelling listen, the plot was just too far fetched.
As a football lover, I found the back story to be at times quite fascinating and of course Kerr’s brilliance as writer makes it a thriller in the true sense of that word.
But the plot?

A Different book, but a very good, well paced read. Wincott was exceptional in the Audio version

Unlike many assumable or large cast of characters in "mystery who did it" story plots...all of the players, not just the leads - were part of the story; with well defined characters who struggled in that grey area of life between what's right & wrong, when does success become greed, commitment to obsession?
It's always enjoyable when you can take a side for, or against or not sure about the players...again unlike many mysteries there where many simultaneous stories involving all of the players were there start to finish,

Another solid effort

Kerr is a great storyteller. Not as good as a Bernie Gunther novel but not many are that exceptional
