Publisher's summary

Best-selling author Nora Roberts dazzles once again with a powerful tale of passion, murder, and small-town scandal. In this classic novel, a woman returns to the home she left behind, to a past that is waiting to kill her....

A decade ago, sculptor Clare Kimball fled Emmitsboro, Maryland, to take the art world by storm. Now she’s celebrated as the artist of her generation. But no amount of success can eclipse the nightmares that haunt her - or the memories of her father’s suicide. Just as her star is shining brighter than ever, Clare leaves it all behind to face her demons.

Emmitsboro sheriff Cameron Rafferty loved Clare from afar all through high school. Now that she’s back, they form a bond that grows stronger each day - fueled by an attraction that’s been simmering for years. But Clare’s past soon rises up with a vengeance, rocking the town with a sinister murder that is clearly linked to her return.

As an investigation gets under way, Clare and Cameron will learn that evil can linger anywhere - even in those you love and trust the most. But it’s a discovery that may come too late to save them....

Good for early Nora Roberts

I'm slowly but surely rereading & listening to Nora's books from the beginning to current. The most difficult thing to do is rate books based on when they were written and not on current standards of writing levels.

My biggest problem with ALL recorded books is the lack of completeness, in that rarely are dedications, notes to readers, acknowledgements, etc. etc. actually recorded. If I'm paying for a book, I want the ENTIRE book from cover to cover.

Love the story, the narrator not so much

The book was great, loved the story and characters really kept you hooked. The narrator could have been better, that would have made this a 5 star listen all around.

Exciting and fun

What a great time!

A fast-paced, really interesting plot and a great narration. I listen on the way to work, and found myself circling the parking lot because I didn't want to stop listening!

It's got everything--the beautiful, spunky heroine, the ex-badboy cop, a small town with evil lurking around every corner. . .who could ask for more?

Capivating Listening

My daughter recently introduced me to books on audio on a recent road trip, unfortunately the J D Robb book is not available through Audible, so I picked this book for a 5 week business trip.? I enjoyed the book and even was able to introduce and interest a co-worker (I have dual jacks on my MP3).? The narrator was able to help you visualize almost every sense that was described. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has plenty of time to listen-it's one you won't want to stop.

Does Ms Roberts hire these readers herself?

Is there anything you would change about this book?

no

What other book might you compare Divine Evil to and why?

any of the "in death" series by JD Robb

How could the performance have been better?

DEFINATELY if someone else had narrated it!

Did Divine Evil inspire you to do anything?

yes. not listen to this reader again.

Any additional comments?

Does Nora Roberts actually hire these narrators herself? I don't think so. Why would she want her books to sound so boring that you have to MAKE yourself listen some of these voices?!

another great Nora Robert's book!

When I started this book, I didn't think I would like the narrator. But when we got to the 2nd chapter I was in love with this narrator and the story had me hooked. There are so many twists that you can't see coming that really surprise and sometimes startle and even scare you a bit. Nora brings out another winner with this book.
