She's Dr. Isabel Favor, America's diva of self-help.
He's Ren Gage, Hollywood's favorite villain.
Sometimes you just know that God has a sense of humor.

Dr. Isabel Favor has sacrificed everything to build her self-help empire. Then, in a matter of weeks, it all comes crashing down. She loses her money, her fiancé, and her reputation. Broke, heartsick, and soul-weary, she heads for Italy in search of a little breathing room.

Lorenzo Gage makes his living killing people .. on the silver screen, that is. He's viciously handsome and sublimely talented. While on vacation in Italy he spots Isabel sipping a glass of wine in a sidewalk café. A good guy wouldn't think of seducing such a tidy-looking woman... but he'd never seen the fun in playing the hero.

A farmhouse nestled in a Tuscan olive grove can't provide Isabel with the refuge she needs -- not when the townspeople are scheming to drive her away, and her plan to restore her reputation has come up empty. And especially not when the man who deceived her refuses to leave her in peace.

I read the reviews on this audio book (they were mixed) but it is a great book. The characters are great and the story flows beautifully. At the very end it gets kind of quirky but was well worth the money. I will re-listen to it again as it was so funny in parts that my stomach hurt giggling. The narration is fantastic. It will make you want to go to Tuscany.

Exceeded Expectations

The story moves quickly. The narrrator did a great job. You quickly find yourself immersed in the story. I stayed involved instead of zoning out.

Very Enjoyable!

I found this audiobook very enjoyable entertainment. The story was somewhat predictable but the dialog was zippy, the hero a suitably gorgeous bad boy with a soft center, and the heroine flawed but plucky. Combined with the romantic setting of Tuscany and mouthwatering descriptions of Tuscan cuisine, it was almost like taking a holiday there. Since I have had the fortunate experience of living in Italy for 2 years and visiting Tuscany often, I could close my eyes while listening and imagine the scene unfold.

The reading wasn't bad but some of the Italian accents were odd. Overall it exceeded my expectations.

What made the experience of listening to Breathing Room the most enjoyable?
Good old fashion core romance

Who was your favorite character and why?
Ch.19 our hero of course, when he has tea with the two little girls, hence the headline

Have you listened to any of Kate Fleming’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the late great Ms Anna Fields as an AKA. "It Had to be YOU" is her all time best.

Any additional comments?
Audible, please get any and all of Ms Fields AKA recordings as in Kate Fleming.

Wish there had been more suspense and mystery. Decent romance but fairly predictable.

This is the first one of Susan Elizabeth Phillips novels that I have not enjoyed. The story was disjointed and the characters were unlikable. If you want to start reading her novels "DEFINITELY" don't start with this one. All the rest of her novels are more then worth the time and book credits. An excellent choice would be "Dream a Little Dream". Very..........Heart warming!

Disappointing

What made the experience of listening to Breathing Room the most enjoyable?

Breathing Room by Susan ELizabeth Phillips will provide several hours of entertainment. It is a fun love story that takes place in Tuscany. It is filled with the cleaver wit and banter that is part of SEP's charm. The characters are fun to know, and the reader soon becomes involved in all of the antics that contribute to the story.

It is difficult to choose a favorite character, because they are all appealing. If I were, however, to choose just one, it would have to be Dr. Isabel Favor, the protagonist. She is strong, and funny; and while she is down on her luck, having lost everything that she deems important, she picks herself up, searches for resolve and remains both spirited and generous. The supporting characters are better for knowing her, and she, in turn, is better for knowing them.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. If you are in the mood for a fun romance, this is definitely worth the credit.
