Publisher's Summary

A former star athlete turned coroner's investigator is drawn into a brutal, complicated murder in this psychological thriller from a father-son writing team that delivers "brilliant, page-turning fiction" (Stephen King).

Natural causes or foul play? That's the question Clay Edison must answer each time he examines a body. Figuring out motives and chasing down suspects aren't part of his beat - not until a seemingly open-and-shut case proves to be more than meets his highly trained eye.

Eccentric, reclusive Walter Rennert lies cold at the bottom of his stairs. At first glance the scene looks straightforward: a once-respected psychology professor done in by booze and a bad heart. But his daughter, Tatiana, insists that her father has been murdered, and she persuades Clay to take a closer look at the grim facts of Rennert's life.

What emerges is a history of scandal and violence and an experiment gone horribly wrong that ended in the brutal murder of a coed. Walter Rennert, it appears, was a broken man - and maybe a marked one. And when Clay learns that a colleague of Rennert's died in a nearly identical manner, he begins to question everything in the official record.

All the while, his relationship with Tatiana is evolving into something forbidden. The closer they grow, the more determined he becomes to catch her father's killer - even if he has to overstep his bounds to do it.

The twisting trail Clay follows will lead him into the darkest corners of the human soul. It's his job to listen to the tales the dead tell. But this time he's part of a story that makes his blood run cold.

    "Awesome!"
What made the experience of listening to Crime Scene the most enjoyable?

I have either read or listened to each and every novel in the Alex Delaware series... Love them... Now, I'm excited to look forward to this new Edison series. Good character interaction, good storyline, fluid, ... fast read... went through it in one day.. :-).

    "Good team"

I like the Jesse/Jonathan Kellerman collaborations. More complex & deep than past Jonathan books.

Dennis Boutsikaris has a lovely voice & fairly good narration for this story & characters - i like his work in general. I think it's distracting that he doesn't pronounce the most obvious things correctly - seems lazy. Examples; Nevada & Boalt Hall.

    "New Keller man choice"

I read this because Jonathan Kellerman was listed as a co-author. I don't know if Jesse Kellerman is a first time author or not but if so, his parents have raised a writer able to fill their shoes.

"Nicely done! buy didn't enjoy the ending."

The main character (Klay Edison) really grew on me, perhaps in the sequel he's a detective, I didn't particularly like the ending but overall good listen.

    "What a duo!"

I went into this knowing I loved Jonathan Kellerman books (and Faye Kellerman) but I was so surprised to find out that Jesse is just as talented. This was a well crafted story that had twists and turns I did not expect. I enjoyed it and look forward to reading anything by either one of them or this fantastic duo again!

Great new Kellerman protagonist. Strong characters. Ming is hysterical. As for Jessee.....like father like son. I look forward to more from these 2.

too slow, not fast enough to hold my attention. I kept falling asleep while listening, which is not my usual reaction to a Kellerman nocel. plus I missed Rubenstein.

    "Kellermans are a writing family."
What made the experience of listening to Crime Scene the most enjoyable?

The Kellerman experience from Tabitha, to Jonathon, to Jesse. They were all born to write and have become excellent at it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Crime Scene?

The entire book is a wonderful diversion and fun to listen to.

Which character – as performed by Dennis Boutsikaris – was your favorite?

Not one eclipsed another. He did a good job all around.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No laughter and no crying but several smiles.

    Any additional comments?

A solid good listen that is fun to follow.

    "Dull"

I was really expecting a good detective book. Did not happen. I kept listening and the only thing I liked was the very ending. Remind me not to purchase a Kellerman book again.

I gave it two stars because the reader was good.
