Conducting a top secret investigation into the death of a fellow police officer has Lieutenant Eve Dallas treading on dangerous ground. She must put professional ethics before personal loyalties. But when a dead body is placed outside her home, Eve takes the warning personally. With her husband, Roarke, watching her every move, Eve is drawn into the most dangerous case of her career. Every step she takes makes her question her own beliefs of right and wrong—and brings her closer to a confrontation with humanity's most seductive form of evil...

Ceremony in Death

What about Susan Ericksen’s performance did you like?

The narration was excellent!
She is able to effortlessly move between the personalities (including accents) of the characters in such a believable way!

Good read

Enjoyed reading but not as captivating as other books in series. Dragged somewhat in places.

Well done

Loved the different sides of the penetration of the Wiccan and the dark side and the link to the Celts. Bringing a believable side to those who believe and the logical mind.
Susan Erickson brings the characters alive and enjoyable

Good story - hideous voices

Would you listen to Ceremony in Death again? Why?

No! The voices that the narrartor gives to the various characters are hideous. It's like listening to a bad cartoon. Peabody sounds like Velma from Scooby Doo, Trina the hairdresser sounds like one of the monsters from Roz from Monster's Inc. Commander Witney and Feeney are both given horrible voices and she has Eve Dallas yell ALL THE TIME. I love the stories but the voices are just awful. And the mispronunciation of French words is a personal pet peeve.

What did you like best about this story?

I appreciated the continued character development.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Susan Ericksen?

Anyone!

Any additional comments?

The sex scenes between Dallas and Roarke are irritating. We get it. Get back to the whodunit and leave the descriptive sex to erotica.

My favorite in the series so far...

What made the experience of listening to Ceremony in Death the most enjoyable?

Susan is a really talented narrator. She is consistent and detailed with the different personalities.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ceremony in Death?

I'm a totally sap. I love with love...So naturally, my favorite part was when she though Roark was asleep and she told him how much she loves him and he smiled slyly :)
The plot was great, murder, mystery, suspense, drama and a little humor. - You won't be disappointed...

What about Susan Ericksen’s performance did you like?

Her consistency and sheer talent in bringing all the characters to live as individuals...

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wish... I can say that I was annoyed when I had to put it down :)

Wonderful

I have been reading this series and this is by far my most favorite! This was a great ride and the narrator is awesome. I can't imagine not hearing her voice on any of the other books. She is very talented.

witches be dammed

Fall 2058 and the newlyweds are still getting to know each other. J.R. Robb is an amazing writer ad she takes us through another crime scene that Eve has to investigate. The story line is awesome and Susan Erickson can take you you on that amazing ride. So well done

Not my favorite in the series

Where does Ceremony in Death rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book probably ranks 3 stars compared to all the other audiobooks in this series and 4-5 compared to any other audio book. I love Susan Erickson.

If you’ve listened to books by J. D. Robb before, how does this one compare?

I'm not a big fan of this storyline, OR Eves actions and behavior in this book. In all honesty she frustrates the hell out of me in this book. She is so bigheaded and stubborn.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Jamie tries to break into the house.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. I kept having to turn it off because Eve was peeving me off.

Any additional comments?

I have read this book, and listened to it on audio once already. I am currently making my way through the series again on audio and have to admit this is not one of my favorite in the series. Eve has always been very single minded and focused. But it bothers me in this book (and others as well, but particularly in this book) how she thinks she knows who the murderer is and just hammers at them. She has no regard to how her actions will affect the people she is hammering, they are innocent of all crimes but she beats them until they are broken because she wants it to be them. The way she goes after Chaz makes me want to smack the hell out of her. The way she snaps at Peabody for having an opinion makes me want to slap the hell out of her. And in all honestly has made me distrust the police in general. Because I know this is how “real” police officers are. They get their teeth into something and refuse to admit that they may be wrong. Instead of trying to find the truth objectively, they try to find the truth to support their opinions. Even though in each book Eve finds her man she manages to screw up other people’s lives in the process, and she just doesn’t care. She makes a comment in the book that she “isn’t a good person” and in some areas she is right, she isn’t. BUT with all the frustrations her actions bring me in this book I’m still addicted. LOL
