Publisher's Summary

His hands are bound behind him, a crude butterfly drawn in blood on his bare back. He isn't the first.

When a drug addict finds the body of a man in the basement of an abandoned warehouse in New York City, Detective Damien Drake is called in to lead the murder investigation.

The victim was a philanthropist, father, doting husband, and wealthy junior partner in one of the cities most respected law firms.

He seemed to have the perfect life.

Yet when Damien probes deeper, he realizes that this man isn't the first. His investigation soon connects this murder with another in Montreal, both of which were emblazoned with the same bloody butterfly.

What dark secrets is the NYC lawyer hiding? And what is the significance of the butterfly?

As Damien inches closer to uncovering the truth, the killer is closing in on him - and those close to him.

Damien's last case cost him his partner's life. This case threatens not only his job, but his sanity, as well. And this time, the killer may be even smarter than he is.

One thing is for certain, if he doesn't catch the killer soon, more people will die. The only question is, will the next victim be someone close to Detective Damien Drake?

Thrilling Serial Killer Novel

Butterfly Kisses was a good serial killer novel. I thought the story was laid out nicely with good pacing. The character development was fair - could have used more. Overall it kept my attentions and Michael Pauley's narration really brought the story and characters to life. I look forward to more from this Author & Narrator

horrible narration

I wish I had listened to a sample before I bought this book. The narration is monotone & impossible to listen to. Waste of my money.

I requested this audible book and the review is voluntary. This book is sooo good and I was very entranced in the mystery, the life of the detective, the interactions with the main characters, and the unfolding of the story. Great characters, wonderful plot, good suspense, and loved the narrator! This was a well rounded mystery, suspense, detective, thriller book. Thankful for the free book and and the wonderful read!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Patrick Logan has captured the grittiness and hardship of the life of a New York Police Detective. The realness and rawness of a detective losing a partner, and the road to healing, drips off of the pages, or in this case, headphones, tugs at the heart strings. His words capture the emotional distress that the detective feels during the search for a serial killer, just six months after his partner was killed. I highly recommend Butterfly Kisses to everyone.

Ugh

I wanted to like this. The story line itself was getting to be a little intriguing, but I was completely and totally thrown out of it by the narrator so many times that I had little tolerance for any sort of annoying plot holes or cliched tropes.

So when the villain was introduced as "the man in black" (biggest cliche ever) it sent me right to the edge of "NOPE" immediately, and then...oh gosh. The villain said to the main protagonist (only he says this to himself where only he can hear it while lurking in the shadows and looking at the main protagonist -- another whopping cliche) "your time will come"... Eye roll inducing cliche number 3 in a matter of seconds. I'm OUT!!

What year is this?? The story includes smart phones and references to Urban Dictionary, but the villain is out of a 1970s B film?? I was waiting for the narrator to say he wrung his long bony fingers together whilst saying "mwaaahahahahahHaha" afterwards. Geeze!!!!

So I may end up slogging through this when I've run out of reading credits for the month, but I just can't force myself back to it right now.

Intense Thriller

What did you like best about Butterfly Kisses? What did you like least?

What I liked most was the story. The author is very talented and the story draws you right in. However, I could not finish it due to the narrator. It's like he tried too hard. He was like an annoying school boy that tries to pester you on the playground. I can see why the author would pick him though. He really gets into the character reading and makes you feel an intense feeling of urgency. So even though it's not for me, I know there are some who will love it. As far as the story, I'll definitely be reading it along with his other work.

What did you like best about this story?

It was intense and never a dull moment. It sucked me in right away. I felt all kinds of emotions. Anxious, nervous and panic just for starters.

How could the performance have been better?

Get a different narrator! I'm sorry. Maybe it's because he reminds me of my older brother and how he tormented me when we were young lol.

Could you see Butterfly Kisses being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Definitely! It would be amazing. I'm not sure who should star in it. There are lots of actors that would be great.

Any additional comments?

Don't let my opinion stop you from trying this. Listen to a sample of it before you decide against it based on what I said. The story alone is worth it if you can tolerate the narrator. Even though I DNF, I'm going to finish reading the book and all the author's other work.
