Publisher's summary

Two years after Clint Wolf's life has been disrupted forever, he's asked to serve as police chief for a quiet little town deep in the swamps of Louisiana. But the tranquility of the town is shattered when a severed arm is found in the jowls of an alligator.

With the aid of Sergeant Susan Wilson, Clint investigates and it isn't long before they realize someone has been murdered. As the investigation ensues, Clint battles secret demons from his past as he befriends a local reporter named Chloe, who proves to be an asset to the case when she shares information from a source who says the murder was part of a larger plot.

Will Clint and Susan unveil and foil the larger plot before it's too late, or will the citizens of Louisiana awaken to a horror worse than any in their state's history?

3.5 Stars The Ending Was Deflating!!

This was a well written book. I enjoyed most of the story, and had a good time trying to predict what was going to happen next, or the overall plot. One minute I am leaning to one character as favourable, and then I find myself despising them later. I ended up liking characters, and could feel my emotions begin to spike when dramatic things would happen with them. It keeps your attention, and has a great plot. The main issue is the cliff hanger ending which really annoys me. Having said that I am going to get the next book. I was privileged to be provided a copy of this book for a honest and unbiased review

J. Scott Bennett was good with the delivery of the story although I found his voice a little monotone

Outstanding!!! I loved this book!

I loved all of the twists this book had! I did not figure out who the killer was, which is so hard to find in a good book. The author of this book was new to me, while I have listened to several books performed by the narrator. I think J.Scott Bennett did an outstanding job with this book. He added so much with his distinguishable voices for the various characters and put the right emotions into it as well. The imagery in this book was vivid too! I can't wait to listen to more of this series. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. This book was such a great story that I will listen to it again to see if I missed any clues on who the killer was.

Good Listen

I enjoyed this book, the main character is actually likable and while he has flaws they don't drag him down as much as some main characters with flaws do. I can see him moving forward and the story was good and I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely going to keep on with this series.

An Awesome Listen

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review. I really enjoyed this book. It has great characters and a fast paced plot. The hero is flawed, but does his job as police chief so well. As he tries to solve a murder, he is drawn into a mysterious plot. Between the writing and the narration this is a great audiobook. I will be listening to Book 2, if its half as good as the first one, I'll be thrilled.

Great mystery!

I'm not a fan of stories going dark a lot or of police procedural books that progress at a slow, languorous pace so was hesitant to begin this book. Was it dark . . . yes, but the story line made it work. Was it slow . . . no! It felt like I was done quickly after I began.

Clint Wolf is a broken man that you just have to love. He begins a new career as Police Chief of a small Louisiana town and immediately the action starts. I found myself listening every chance I got instead of just in my commute.

J. Scott Bennett did an excellent job in making each character come to life. While I was surprised that Clint was only 29, it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the book.

BJ Bourg wrote in a style that resembles some of my favorite mystery authors but with his own polish and twist. I definitely will check out his and J. Scott's other books on Audible. I love finding new authors / narrators and given a free audiobook for my honest review and it is this good to read.

Just a nice easy listen

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would. I really enjoyed this book! It did take me a couple minutes to get into it, but after that I was hooked!

What was one of the most memorable moments of But Not Forgotten?

The unfolding of the story toward the end. I did have most of it figured out, but it was still very gripping. I got very into the story. I just loved this book.

What does J. Scott Bennett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mr. Bennett is a fantastic narrator! He really brought the characters to life. He also brought the right amount of tension to the story line. He had me on the edge of my seat

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was very upset with the events at the end. I did laugh & teared up a few times. I also experienced some outrage.

Any additional comments?

This is a really wonderful book!! I can't wait to listen to more in the series. Well done!!!

Well written

The narrator was a good choice for the central character and also did the other voices well. The story was entertaining and the main characters were well fleshed out. There was a lot of action in the last hour. I enjoyed listening. Book 2 is even better!

Loved loved loved this book

This author and narrator were such a perfect fit. I was hooked right from the beginning of the alligator taking an arm. In this book you will learn how far hate, murder, and corruption can go up the chain of command. There were so many twists to the story it was hard to predict the outcome, which, actually surprised me. I definitely want to follow this series as it has become one of my favorite series. I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.

Calm, Cool and Mysterious

But Not Forgotten: Clint Wolf Mystery Series, Book 1
By: BJ Bourg Narrated by: J. Scott Bennett

I liked Clint Wolf, the main character; he’s so cool, calm, and mysterious. I appreciated the way the story unfolds; once readers understand one mystery, another twist gives us a new one. I made a lot of predictions throughout the story but was wrong every time. I love that.

This book also reminded me of Longmire, the Netflix series. It took a little bit to get into the book but once I did, I had to finish it. I highly recommend But Not Forgotten.

As a Louisianian, AKA, Cajun, I appreciated the way Bennett pronounced a lot of the names and locations, especially Boudreaux.
