Publisher's Summary

Returning home from a trip to Paris, Boston medical examiner Maura Isles confronts a nightmarish scene. Police cruisers line her street and slumped in a car at the end of Maura's driveway is a dead woman, her head bloodied by a gunshot wound. Cops and neighbors gape at her as she approaches. Only when Maura looks at the victim does she understand why everyone is so shocked by her arrival. The dead woman looks exactly like Maura. Within a week, the DNA lab delivers a stunning verdict: the dead woman is Maura's twin. A twin she never knew she had. Detective Jane Rizzoli, now eight months pregnant, tackles the case as chief investigator. But for Maura, this murder is far more personal and frightening.

Double vision

This book has some nice interesting twists and suspenses. I had been expecting the plot to be predictable but was pleasantly surprised. The surprises make sense in hind-sight, and not outrageous. The character development is good, and the prose is easy on the ears.

Horrible, horrible narrator

The story was great; but I could barely stand to listen to the grating and grinding voice of the narrator. She read so slowly that I found myself ending her sentences for her. I had to stop listening, take a break for a few days, and go back to finish the book.

Didn't see it coming

Love when a story has twists and turns and ultimately takes you by surprise. Thought I had it figured out until the very end.

Great Book Bad Narration

The story is another twist that was unexpected. The narrator was horrible. It was so hard for me to finish listening to her. I am going to stay away from any books read by her.

Mystery intrigue and dead bodies

When the look a like of Dr. Isles is found murdered outside her home all chaos ensues. After discovering that it's not the well known dr this story takes a deep and winding journey to discover secrets long ago hidden and things too gruesome to fathom. Fresh, exciting and full of mystery this story kept me on the edge of my seat and hanging on to every word. Narration is superb and so is the story.

WOW! Twists and turns

I recently started reading this series and as I finish each book I can't wait to move on to the next one.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the lack of a consistent performer is distracting in the beginning of the story but the story is so strong I forget about that.
The one thing I can NOT get over is the pronunciation of "RIZZOLI" - it's a jolt every time I heart "RiTzoli" 😖. Even with jolt I'll keep reading - but with so any reviewers mentioning this - I do hope Audible is paying attention.

Story good

I would have liked the book better if the narrator had pronounced Rizzoli's name correctly. Every time I heard Ritzoli I cringed, I realize this is petty but it grated on my nerves.
