Publisher's Summary

You DO NOT MESS with the Special Investigators!

The events of 9/11 changed Jack Reacher’s drifter life in a practical way. In addition to his folding toothbrush, he now needs to carry photo ID to get around. Yet he is still as close to untraceable as a human being in America can get.

So when a member of his old Army unit manages to get a message to him, he knows it has to be deadly serious. The Special Investigators always watched each other’s backs. Now Reacher must put the old unit back together. Someone has killed one of them, and he can’t let that go.

"Jack has mates = more trouble, more action."
What made the experience of listening to Bad Luck and Trouble the most enjoyable?

The story is nonsense, but don't let that put you off, Lee Child sells you all of this ridiculousness to the point that you will take a bullet for it. You will probably not want to talk about it in two weeks time down at the pub, but you will buy the next Jack Reacher audiobook from Audible. Jack is an enigma, the improbability of your primordial genetic code. What is not to love with touching your reptilian brain with so much relish? I love the fact that it is such nonsense - so loveable and so enjoyable. Perfect fiction and escape.

What did you like best about this story?

It Jack, he's back and he's got mates. Baddies fear and tremble!

    Which scene was your favorite?

The first scene, no, correction the last scene.... Hum, in reconsideration the middle bit.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Moved me? What kind of question is this for a Jack Reacher novel? It does not move, it kicks your butt.

Jack with some of his old team. Not the usual loner this time, but still good, revenge, naive baddies, a little laboured with the constant drives through LA, but overall enjoyable.

    "Think Jack's showing his age"

Have been a constant Reacher fan but whether it was the almost tired voice given to him by Mr Harding or my personal attitude at the time, I felt that Jack was also tired of being leader of the push. There was certainly plenty of action but not the usual edginess to his character. Maybe there were too many characters to contend with.

Thought this was a better plot line than normal, more complicated, but fear not ,a little Reacher violence soon sorts everything out.

Where does Bad Luck and Trouble rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Definitely in my top 5 audiobooks (all the reachers). Gives us a further glimpse into Reachers past, and strangely Reachers friends.

What other book might you compare Bad Luck and Trouble to, and why?

You can't really compare it to any other books, it's very unique, especially bringing in new characters which are in fact Reachers old friends and collegues.

Which character – as performed by Jeff` Harding – was your favourite?

Reacher is always my favourite character, however saying that, the new characters we meet in this book are all unique too and I feel I would appreciate them almost as much as Reacher in any book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was particularly moved when the team found Maisie dead in swans house. It was written well and showed an emotional side to Reacher we don't see very often.

    Any additional comments?

I really loved this book, each book is unique and we see different sides to a same old Reacher character as strange as that sounds. Loved reading all the books and am thoroughly enjoying listening to them all too.

    "Another Reacher book finished!"

The slow build up won't suit everyone, but I like it. Reacher's complicated character is compelling and in each book you learn a little more about him. It's the first I've read where he admits that he's getting older, I wonder what the future holds for this nomadic loner? Perhaps not my favourite book of the series so far but still riveting and I'm getting through them way too fast.!
