Publisher's Summary

It takes a bad man to hunt evil

If the assassin known only as Victor once had a moral compass, it is long since buried, along with his many victims. Yet some men are so evil, even Victor accepts they must die for reasons other than just money.

One such man is Milan Rados, a former commander in the Serbian army who has escaped trial at The Hague to become a formidable criminal power. Tracking down and killing this brutal man will win Victor a reprieve for his own recent crimes on British soil.

But Victor isn't the only one who wants Rados dead. Ana, whose family was butchered on the tyrant's orders, will do anything to see Rados' blood spilled on the snow of Eastern Europe. Now Victor has an unlikely ally - but an army stands between them and justice.

Great and simple as ever

I continue to be amazed at the simplicity and yet intriguing story lines from Tom Wood... the mistakes that show imperfections in the main protagonist and yet the sheer will to achieve. very enjoyable...

Excellent as usual

Great story as I have come to expect from Tom Wood. Great narration by Daniel Philpott too. Can't wait for the next one.

Never again

After listening to this I felt that it was a time to die. Managed 3/4 of the story before I finally just had to give in.

Characters felt lifeless and grey. Story was as predictable as a corrie script. Narrator a big let down too; I stills nothing into the characters, making no attempt to try and bring them to life.

After having the title recommended by Audible I feel hugely let down.

Excellant

What did you like best about this story?

I liked how you got to hear more about Victor's past, I've always wanted to know where he came from,

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The end scene is good, I like it when Victor gets mad

Any additional comments?

I hope there's going to be more Victor, I wouldn't mind seeing a film of this book

Awful

What would have made A Time to Die better?

I don't usually offer a negative response but I was so looking forward to listening to this and I haven't got passed the first 20 mins..I really tried!
The spoiler is the narrator, absolutely dreadful and belonged to Jackanory for 6 year olds

Would you ever listen to anything by Tom Wood again?

Not if its the same narrator

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Daniel Philpott?

Almost anyone, the postman would have done a better job.

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I started reading the book so therefore the story did initially hook me.

Any additional comments?

Terribly disappointed

Victor is back

Any additional comments?

I listened to the first 5 books in the series in relatively quick succession. Really liked the first 4 but was somewhat disappointed with the 5th. I returned to this one after a break of some months and found it as enjoyable as the early work.
If you, like me, were put off after book 5 I'd suggest giving Tom Wood another go.
