So, this is me. Lily Allen.

I am a woman.

I am a mother.

I was a wife.

I drink.

I have taken drugs.

I have loved and been let down.

I am a success and a failure.

I am a songwriter.

I am a singer.

I am all these things and more.

When women share their stories, loudly and clearly and honestly, things begin to change - for the better.

This is my story.

So good

Brutal and honest it is a great listen! I did’t know much about Lily and wanted to hear about the loss of her son as I just lost mine. Her story is amazing and so honest.

Its Lily's truth and I love her even more for it!

Lily has shown courage and bravery in airing out all the details of her life so far. Her bad bits, her amazingly honest and truthful bits, and the happy bits. She has maintained her integrity in her writing as she always has done through song. She has drawn attention to some serious issues that plague men and woman alike. I could not stop listening once I had started and to have Lily read it herself made it ever the more special. Thank you Lily!

Oh wow, a celebrity as human as some of us

This book is shocking, well written, and honest. It covers the bulk of Lily Allen’s career, personal downfall, and uprising. A fantastic read. If you’re a fan, you’ll love her more! If you aren’t a fan, you’ll at best enjoy the book and respect her.

Feel just like a friend chatting about herself

Very down to earth narrative of her life by herself. I love it! It is inspiring and relaxing at the same time to listen to. Nothing hard to understand and I feel I know her so much better now. I think this can be especially good for teenagers to listen to actually as I love her description and analysis of how her character is shaped by experiences from her childhood and teenage years throughout the whole book. I wish Lily will write more books in addition to songs in the future!

Poor Rich Girl

Indeed she came across tough obstacles, but sometimes it seems she loses track of her own priviledges.
The book sounds as honest as it can be. Lily takes a while to get the proper character while reading, but when she gets there, it sounds really intimate.
Still confused if this is a sample of her vulnerability, oversharing or a desperate try for attention again. Perhaps it's all of them at the same time.

Interesting as a fan and a woman

I got this book because Lily Allen’s new album No Shame is emotional, well-written, and tells such a story. I was familiar with her vaguely before, but I’ve since become a big fan. She’s a great writer it turns out! This book is a beautiful and deeply personal example. I don’t know how she manages to have such insight into herself, but it inspires me. She also still has managed to be a mess over the years and that is very deeply relatable. Her struggles as a woman in a male-dominated industry are also very relatable and well examined. This is a book that anyone can enjoy.
