Publisher's summary

Six years ago federal agent Samantha Moon was the perfect wife and mother, your typical soccer mom with the minivan and suburban home. Then the unthinkable happens, an attack that changes her life forever. And forever is a very long time for a vampire.

Now in Moon Island, Samantha Moon is hired to look into the mysterious drowning of a super-rich hotel tycoon. The death occurred exactly one year ago, at the family's annual retreat on a private island in the Pacific Northwest. Now, as the family gathers again, Samantha Moon is asked to find a ruthless killer - all while a massive storm bears down upon the small island. But there's another storm brewing upon Skull Island, a storm of the supernatural kind. Sam is about to come face-to-face with evil incarnate...a monster who will stop at nothing to possess her completely - mind, body and soul - and destroy all that she loves.

A paranormal crossed with a English cozy

Author seems to have been inspired by Agatha Christie in this entry in the Samantha Moon series. Samantha is hired to investigate the death of an old rich man by his beautiful granddaughter. Sam travels to a private island owned by the family where a everyone is a suspect. As usual, Sam has a lot more going on in her private life, but she's helped along by Alison, a returning character from the previous book, who becomes her assistant. The banter between the two cracked me up and was one of the best things about this book. I hope Alison sticks around.

Moon Island

What made the experience of listening to Moon Island the most enjoyable?

The narrator. I LOVED her performance. She has such a warm voice and really makes you feel camaraderie with the characters.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I liked it. It was creepy good. Seems it’s been done before in other books, but this one had its own touch.

Which character – as performed by Dina Pearlman – was your favorite?

Samantha Moon

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I was drawn in from the beginning and it kept me engaged.

Any additional comments?

While this can be listened to as a stand alone, it should be listened to in order. It was my first one in the series and it was great but there were characters that were mentioned from the previous books that I have no clue who they are. I’m going to start back with the first book. The only thing about this one was at the end Samantha kept saying ‘I don’t understand.’ This was so annoying. It’s almost like the information we were trying to get was like pulling teeth from a chicken. It would’ve been a whole lot better if the author would’ve just explained things instead of having her keep saying this to get more answers. This is why I gave it three stars.

Okay

This book was pretty good. My biggest complaint is that it's short. It was good to see one of the characters finally get his comeuppance. Looking forward to the next in the series.

Another great read - not predictable

A fun read and glad fot the twists and turns! excited to see what happens. Again, I love how she holds onto herself, her integrity and beliefs.

Story Told with much anger

The entire book was read by Dina Pearlman with such anger, bad attitude , sarcasms , overall the main character had a deep chip on her shoulder the way Ms. Pearlman read the book. I got tired of listening, however I finished the 4+hour book, to the narrator destroy innocent conversations between friends in the book. The rudeness and irritation how “Moondance”was portrayed in every circumstance she was in,
there was no need for it. I hope that the next book drops the attitude!

Poot writing

So far I enjoy the story line. But, you can tell this is a very immature writer 🙄. There is too much repetition in her wording. The same phrases over and over. Over explanation of people, places and things.
I would assume the blame should be place with the editor and proof readers. They should have pointed this out. Alas writing is not what is once was.

A Good Story, But Not My Favorite

Although I did enjoy this story, it was not my favorite in this series. I still gave it 5 stars because of my overall enjoyment of the series. I really wish the author would bulk up the stories a bit to give us a longer read. Dina Pearlman continues to do an excellent job as narrator. If you are new to this series, be sure to start from the beginning.
