Publisher's summary

Years ago, Heart’s Eye, a school built on top of a nexus point, was attacked and captured by a necromancer.

The nexus point was snuffed out, the handful of survivors forced to flee, and the once great school turned into a forward base for a necromantic invasion. All seemed lost, until Emily killed the necromancer and retook the school. Now, she intends to lay the building blocks for a university, a place where magical knowledge and mundane technology are brought together for the benefit of all.

But dark secrets lie within the shadowed school. What happened when Heart’s Eye fell? What were the tutors doing when the wards fell, and the necromancer invaded the school? And, as power flows back into the school, Emily finds herself caught between power struggles and a threat from the past, a shadow that has walked beside her for the last six years. It might bring about the end of everything.

In a school full of mirrors, who knows what they reflect?

Another hit!

I loved this one just like the previous books. Starts off kind of slow but when it gets moving, wow. I can't wait for The Artful Apprentice.

much better

first half is boring, but it gets pretty good in the last half as they really start to unravel what was going on with the school among other things. Author could have done more and really had a lot of opportunities to make it spectacular, but never did. however, it was still good. She should have brought more to the table on what she wanted for the university and possible experimentation in the 1st half of the book to avoid making it dull, but I will take what I got. 7/10 good to listen to once.

Mirror Magics Abandoned….

Not really a spoiler, but if you have a tendency toward indignantcy — yes! I totally made that word up! — , feel free to move on to the next review.

No wonder Meeror Majiiks were abandoned. What hell lies that way?!? Serious deep dive into thoughts about oneself. It facilitated Identification but studded stepped Transportation.

Narrative, storytelling is at the heart of all communication. That’s one of the things that I’ve learned while studying Media Psychology. P.S. Yes. Some of our PhD Alums work with social media. Some of us reiterate the infallible truth of Social Justice… while recognizing that we have to learn *their language* in order to have a conversation. It is arrogant to expect otherwise. Respect, dignity, honor…. these are the things that separate us from our worst Alt-Self.

Yeah. Be the bravest, kindest, most optimistic, realistic, creative, e genius version of yourself. You deserve nothing less.

So Good

I really really enjoy this series, and this book was a great continuation of the series.
I can't wait until the next book is released on audio.

Italics ignored

I listened to this audiobook with whisper sync enabled. So I could see the text she was reading as she was reading it. I was SUPER frustrated when I noticed that the narrator frequently/usually ignored the italics which are used to place emphasis on a particular word in a sentence. Not placing emphasis on the right word can really change the meaning of a sentence.

Mild disappoint

the Story about the mirrors was actually a rather let down. I thought it was going to have people trapped in them the original people the school. Resulting in people wanting the school back.

I really liked this one

the last book was a little disappointing. but this one had a lot of layers. it's inherent with alternate world stories. I love learning author's different takes. I'll probably listen to this one again as it was fun to follow and there weren't any plot twists that would keep me from enjoying it again.
