Publisher's summary

A gripping thriller about a woman who must help cover the tracks of her serial killer sister - only to discover her sibling isn't the only serial killer in town.

Carrie wants a normal life.

Carrie Lawrence doesn’t need a happily ever after. She’ll just settle for “after.” After a decade of helping her sister hide her victims. After a lifetime of lies. She just wants to be safe, boring, and not trekking through the woods at night with a dead body wrapped in a carpet.

Becca wants to get away with murder.

Becca Lawrence doesn’t believe in happily ever after because she’s already happy. She’s gotten away with murder for a decade and has blackmailed her sister into helping her hide the evidence - what more could a girl want?

But first, they have to stop a serial killer.

When 13 bodies are discovered in their small town, people are shocked. But not as shocked as Carrie, who thought she knew all the details of Becca’s sordid pastime. When Becca swears she’s not behind the grisly new crimes, they realize the town has a second serial killer who has the sisters in his sights, and what he wants is...Carrie.

Mmm

I felt a bit underwhelmed with this story. It was a hard read for me I just had trouble finding it entertaining.

So Good!!

Such a quick fun listen. You can't pick your family, you just have to make the best of it or the worst in this case.

Good Suspense but...

Good suspense book but I struggled to finish it due to the narrator the tone for the voices weren't as appealing to draw me more into the story. This was actually my first audio book to listen to.

For a first book to listen it was great!

I can understand that the voice of the woman wont be for everyone, but for me it was fitting and on the more soothing side so for a first book listen its definitely something id recommend! Although overall the story is quite simple and mostly straight forward and not much of a twist it is definitely a good choice for anyone new to the genre as an introduction thats not to hard to follow like some other horror authors try and achieve so id definitely say its just right if your looking for a place to dip your toes in to start, but don’t think it will satisfy more avid readers of thriller horrors looking for huge twists and turns.

Excellent!

Elaine Murphy wrote this book with the perfect balance of psychological thriller and comedy. I enjoyed every minute! Narration was great as well! Wouldn't mind a sequel to this one!

Best Story This Year

This was done so well, it is the best book I listened to so far this year. I found myself chuckle while listening, I packed my phone around listening as I finished home projects, if interupted I would rewind, I didn't want to miss a beat. great stuff.

Worth it for the narrator, not much more

A lesson in grasshopper anatomy could be delightful if Saskia was reading it. Unfortunately, this story isn’t much more interesting than that for the first half... drawn out and too much of a one trick pony. I got bored.

But again, Saskia. She kept me in this, and I cannot say that I’m glad. It was much of the same throughout, and I feel like this could have been much more entertaining. I would have been satisfied if the ending would’ve blown it out of the water, but no.

If you have read/ listened to “Jane Doe” and “The Sound of Rain”, the tone is very reminiscent of those. While the writing in those is just so good and occasionally made me laugh out loud (which I LOVE and wish this one would have had more of), the narration in this one is definitely on par with those.
