Vietnamese Phase 1, Units 21-25 build on material taught in prior units. Each lesson provides 30 minutes of spoken language practice, with an introductory conversation, and new vocabulary and structures. Detailed instructions enable you to understand and participate in the conversation. Each lesson contains practice for vocabulary introduced in previous lessons. Critic Reviews

"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." ( AudioFile magazine)

Good method, bad subject matter

I like the pimsleur method but found the subject matter of this particular file poor. There was far too much emphasis on getting directions and the dialogue that deals with shops being open or closed is totally inappropriate for a beginner's course.

This is the 5th Vietnamese audio file I have studied (1 more to go) and they still haven't covered basic stuff like "what is your name", "where are you from", "what do you do", "where do you live". Maybe that will come at the end!

Content

Covers directions (where? go straight, left, right, how far?); flights (going by plane, airports); shops open & closing; plus revision on money, family etc.
