Story
After the old gods warred and drove themselves to extinction, the cataclysm of their fall shattered the land of Vigrio. Now, power-hungry jarls carve out petty kingdoms, and monsters stalk the shadow-haunted woods and mountains. A world where the bones of the dead gods still hold great power, promising fame, and fortune for those brave - or desperate - enough to seek them out. As whispers of war echo over the plains and across the fjords, fate follows the footsteps of three people. All three will shape the fate of the world, as it once more teeters on the edge of chaos.

Piranesi lives in the House. Perhaps he always has. In his notebooks, day after day, he makes a clear and careful record of its wonders: the labyrinth of halls, the thousands upon thousands of statues, the tides that thunder up staircases, the clouds that move in slow procession through the upper halls. On Tuesdays and Fridays Piranesi sees his friend, the Other. At other times he brings tributes of food to the Dead. But mostly, he is alone.

So here’s the plan: Kill the demon, steal the treasure, and retire to a life of luxury! It sounds easy when put like that. However, most unfortunately for warrior-priest Egil and sneak thief Nix, when the demon they kill turns out to have worshippers in high places, retirement is not an option. A wonderfully fast-paced fantasy adventure redolent of the classic tales of swords and sorcery, from New York Times best-selling author Paul S. Kemp.

Locke Lamora Meets the Blues Brothers
Any additional comments?
Like a world class chef took my comfort food and turned it into a thousand dollar a plate meal.
A TL;DR: After 200+ books, this is the first one that is truly like Lies of Locke Lamora, except I like this one more.
This is a tale of a group of buddies that were great back in the day, nay, the greatest group of mercenary heroes in the land. Now, however, families and middle age have set in with the group having gone their separate ways. This was likely how it would end if not for the band's (oh yes, that is the pun and joke that drives this whole tale) frontman showing up on the doorstep of the protagonist of this tale, Slow-hand Clay. Of course, to get the band back together, they have to convince the Crazy wizard, the murderous thief turned king, the stone cold killer that was imprisoned, and maybe a bard that won't die first. Oh and if they do get the band back together, they have to avoid old enemies, old friends, a forest where dang near everything wants to kill you, and up and coming new bands!
Are you sold yet? No? There are bunny rabbit eared elves that are total jerks, a vicious fascinating world, and cunning (crazy) plans (dumb luck) to get them out of all those things when the greatest enemy is they are just getting too old for this [crap].
Do you like adventures? Humor? Wonderful tales? Interesting worlds? The Blues Brothers? Gentlemen Bastards? Silly wizards? Terrible odds that are defeated in actual believable ways? Then I recommend this book to you.
PS: It says this is part of a series, and I hope it is, but this book is effectively stand-alone.

Awesome
Great book. Solid characters, interesting world, good story and, best of all, freakin' hilarious. If you want a fast paced, but solid fantasy entry that'll make you laugh (and experience other emotions), look no further. Excellent first novel that I fully recommend, and doubly so if you have any affection for bands and/or rock-n-roll (but totally not necessary).

Great audiobook
If you like gritty dark fantasy, with a bit of trolls and dragons etc. this is for you. They make mercenaries seem like rock bands. Very fresh idea.

A good fun book.
I normally don't go for the fantasy style books, but I am really glad I did this time. I was expecting something serious and dark but when the first jokes started coming in. I was completely blindsided with laughter. I don't know if it was because I was expecting something different or it was really funny, but I like to think it was really funny. So if you want some good laughs and a tale of old friends getting back together. Check it out, I had a good time.

Rock n roll lifestyle in a medieval fantasy world
What looks like it's going to be about nostalgia is really a commentary on aging and watching the world change around you. Aging rock-star-esque warriors come out of retirement and get the band back together for one final hurrah.
Of note: Kings of the Wyld is about the journey, not the destination. It takes nearly 1/2 of this huge book to get the band back together and most of what time remains after that to reach their goal. This is more or less a road trip novel.
Amazing narration. I don't recognize this narrator but I"ll be sure to look for him in the future.

The cake is a lie!
The best, cleverest, most inventive fantasy in a very long time. Kings of the Wyld is one of the best I've read (listened to) since Ready Player One; only of the Fantasy genre.

Great Book!
Not your typical fantasy book. It doesn't take itself too seriously, hilariously funny. great characters and the overall similarities to a washed up rock band were genius.

Loads of fun.
Fun, funny, well developed story. Likable characters, great back story, moves along without getting bogged down in any one event. Sometimes, in books with action, a battle or fight scene can go on forever; doesn’t happen in this book, the pacing stays solid and the characters stay true to who they are. Loved the “being in a band” angle.
