Publisher's summary

Drew's life had fallen apart. He was middle-aged, estranged from his wife and son, and stricken with a fatal disease. Things changed however when the beasts invaded. Using power gained from the beasts he killed, Drew finds himself in a young healthy body with unimaginable strength, and a desperate need to journey home to his family.

Experience the collapse of society with Drew as he navigates its dangers, meets new friends, and steadily grows in power.

This can be considered a post-apocalyptic Progression novel. It has similarities to cultivation novels, but is not Wuxia, it is only slightly Xianxia.

This is the first book in a trilogy.

Ok narration marred with decision making

The narration was sufficient and world building was enticing concept of Western cultivation. The problem was the decision making and the lack of priorities mc constantly show. Coupled with his doormat like attitude with ungrateful people he saves puts a wrench on our "Savior complex" hero

Really good!

I liked the MC, and Matt grew up on me as the story continued. There were some head scratching moments and decisions made by the characters, but overall, great book also liked how Drew reacted to all the deaths around him well until the last one where he just went the cliche way of im going to kill them all to promptly getting his cheeks kicked in. but im looking forward to the next one

Absolute must-listen!

I just finished listening to this book set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by monsters, and I was completely captivated from start to finish. The non-stop action and fast-paced storyline had me on the edge of my seat throughout. What sets this book apart is its unique magic system where the protagonist ingests mana stones to unlock incredible powers. It adds a layer of complexity and excitement to the story. The author's descriptive narration combined with the talented narrator made the whole experience even more immersive. If you love action-packed adventures in a post-apocalyptic setting with a fresh take on magic, this audio book is an absolute must-listen. I can't wait for the sequel!

bland all around

just couldn't get into this one from the mc being the only one to grow in power to an insane degree and the crap character development that's so bad I couldn't care less when a support character died I don't know it's not bad but definitely not good

not bad yet there is hope

The story kept me engaged yet it wasn't hard to some of the many glaring issues with the writing. I heard the author.
It's new and I did see some progression of the writing throughout the story. So while I would not put this on my top. 10 Li would not count it out as something. I will continue to keep my Eye on and read in the future..

Decent story with a blan narrative

Hard to say whether it was the narration or the story, but felt no connection. Plus a lack knowledge from one or both on the subjects in the book make for an agitating read.

I had high hopes.

This story line could have been better for me personally it was the main character that turned me off of this book.
