Publisher's Summary

For decades, the society’s notion of a perfect body has forced millions of people to follow different kinds of diets. These diets are either for weight gain or weight loss. However, both include following a set pattern for eating. These eating patterns are about cutting off nutrient-dense food groups, crunching on calories rather than meals, and depriving oneself of food. Such eating patterns lead to guilt, bingeing, emotional eating, and negative body image.

The audiobook, Intuitive Eating, focuses on eating for satisfaction, fullness, and nurturing a safe relation with food. It is a workbook that propagates the idea of satisfaction and positive body image by encouraging a healthier relationship with food.

This audiobook does not tell you about what to eat like other books and journals out there. It focuses on how to eat with a present mind. The main idea behind the audiobook is to honor hunger, and eat without any guilt to satisfy the appetite. It teaches about practicing self-love. The audiobook is all about how to stop projecting your feelings towards food and eating food to nurture the body. Food is social, but food should never be toxic. It should not be the reason behind eating disorders. It should heal and satisfy.

This audiobook will teach you about:

  • Discarding diets that encourage set eating patterns
  • Developing and maintaining a positive body image
  • Focusing on the health rather than weight loss or weight gain
  • The art and science of intuitive eating
  • Healing through intuitive eating

This audiobook is an all-encompassing self-help book, and will guide you on how to nurture yourself without any guilt or deprivation.

Extremely Prescribed Book

I am learning so much from the book. I didn't realize how much stress I associated with eating. Thank you for this book! One less thing to worry about! The principles of Intuitive Eating are so simple yet so contrary to what we were taught and likely passed along to our kids. I highly recommend this book!

It's a great idea and I have incorporated a lot .

People hate counting and cutting calories. That unsurprising fact is behind the rise of ‘‘intuitive’’ eating, an approach that de-emphasizes dieting in favor of attending to bodily signals, like feelings of hunger and, more important, fullness. Despite an outpouring of related books and seminars, and the advocacy of some obesity specialists, intuitive eating — referred to by some as ‘‘mindful’’ eating — has not been subject to much independent scientific investigation. This audiobook offers one of the first head-to-head comparisons of the effectiveness of calorie restriction and intuitive eating. Thanks anyway.

Sounds good.

Well, it certainly sounds amazing. Spoiler alert...never diet again! When I read this, I assumed I was dragging my feet about starting my next diet because I was a fat, lazy slob. But maybe I am just totally burnt out on diets. I hope this is all true. I hope that I can just learn to feel my hunger cues again and that will be it.

Only half way through - Keep going!

I have the Audible, this is the 3rd Edition, someone said it was not. I admit when I first heard the narrator's voice I was not feeling it, reminded me of someone I knew. After I saw Pam Ward's photo and had visual of her it made a difference. The information is so enlightening I don't care who is narrating now. I find listening so much more practical than trying to focus on a book and I don't need my glasses.

I wish I had read this book years ago!

The reader did a good job and seemed really into it. But more importantly, the information is outstanding! I have never considered myself a dieter and am at my ideal weight and I still got a lot out of it! I have already recommended it to others. There is a good section on how to raise kids to have a healthy relationship with food, which was outstanding too. Almost anyone who struggles with food and/or weight will gain something positive by reading or listening to this book!

The narrator's tone is scolding!

I really like the book, the topic, and all the ways that it is relevant in each one of our everyday lives. However, the narrator sounded like she was lecturing the entire time which was really kind of the opposite of what I thought the book was trying to portray in terms of tone. When learning how to adopt a flexible and intuitive eating mindset, rules and restrictions no longer exist, however this lady made it sound like she was scolding me the entire time she read the book.
