Publisher's summary

When they investigate a string of disappearances of young girls, will Jenny Weston and Zoe Zola be dispatched with extreme pride and prejudice?

Amateur sleuth and little librarian Jenny Wilson is set on edge when the police discover a young girl's body, dressed in an old-fashioned white lace dress, just outside Bear Falls. When another local girl from town disappears soon after, Jenny and her next-door neighbor, author and little person Zoe Zola, know they have to help the beleaguered police chief.

But first, Jenny and Zoe have new neighbors to meet: A trio of wealthy newcomers from Chicago has just moved into a huge mansion on Lake Michigan. Nathan and Delia Wickley are genial siblings, and Fitzwilliam Dillon, the mansion's owner, is a little person like Zoe. It is a truth universally acknowledged that a rich gentleman seeking to ingratiate himself to his new neighbors will spread a bit of largesse around, and Fitzwilliam is no exception: He has offered two million dollars to Bear Falls. But the townspeople are far from agreed on what to do with the money - and the deliberations are far from peaceful.

But it'll all come to naught if the missing girl isn't found and the culprit identified. And when she ventures alone to a mysterious structure in the woods, Zoe may not live to resolve her romantic dilemmas. Though neither Jenny nor Zoe is particularly placid or even-tempered, love and danger beckon them.

I enjoyed it

This was very good. I cared about the characters. But I am still routing for Zoe and her editor.

Great original characters. Who dunit that keeps you guessing to the end. Minor romance folded in to make it cozy.

Narrator changes pronunciation in 3rd book

What the H*LL, the narrator, Gavin, has pronounced one of the main character's name in one manner in the first two books, then (the SAME narrator) CHANGES the pronunciation in the third book!! Zoe is the character's name, Gavin pronounces it as Zo, with a long "o" in the first two books and now in this third book Gavin pronounces it as Zoie, which I believe is actually the correct pronunciation, but when one has mispronounced it for TWO ENTIRE NOVELS one may as well continue with that same pronunciation in the final novel.

A Cozy Mystery

I enjoyed the series and the characters. A couple little things gave me pause. I’ve lived in Michigan for 60 years and never heard of Traverse City being referred to as simply Traverse. Never heard of swamps either, but I looked them up and we do have them! I wound up looking up the author and she does indeed live in Michigan. All in all a good series, and a good book. I hope she writes more of them.

Fun cozy mystery

She really knows how to set a story. I was not able to anticipate all the twists which makes them more enjoyable to me.

Great Story!

A bit oN the wordy side that made it hard to follow at some points. But the characters are very enjoyable and the twists keep coming. Headed for the next book right now.

Cautionary Tale!

Just when you think Zoe will show a little caution especially after her abduction in book two. She just dives right in. Things seem a little odd to me in Bear Falls. Since when is Chief Ed on good terms with Zoe? I so wasn't expecting that. From the first book he's been against Zoe. Suddenly it looks like the Chief is bending over backward giving her a lot of leeway. Zoe ends up taking a mile with the rope he gave her. Got a big head there for a bit she and Jenny are running around like Robert Stack trying to solve another mystery. The mystery is a couple of naive missing girls. One of them wasn't so lucky. Both girls are a cautionary tale of why you shouldn't talk to strangers. Does not matter if you live in a small town where everyone knows you and your business. Also one more thing Jenny still has her head caught up in her feeling when it comes to Tony. So she still acting odd and standoffish. She trying to find a job else so she can leave Bear Falls.

Great listen

I get audible books for long trips- the first in this series was nice, and they’ve gotten better as they progress- I had to take the long way home and drive around the block because
I really wanted to complete it! Looking forward to more!
