Publisher's Summary

“I love psychological thrillers, and Jeff C. Stevenson’s I’ll Come Back to Get You is a good one. The writing is precise, the plot compelling, but most important in this genre, it’s a page turner that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Recommended.” (Gene O’Neill, author of Frozen Shadows and other chilling tales)

“A character-rich, on the edge of your seat read that pulls you in deeper and deeper, page after page. Great Read!” (Gerald Lerner, author of The Nighthawk Deception)

“Stevenson is at his best in this nail biting, edge of the seat thriller. You’ll have no nails left!” (Mark Lumby, author of The Debt, editor of Dark Places, Evil Faces Vol 1 and 2)

In the midst of a Manhattan heat wave, Adel Daniels’ husband doesn’t return home from work. A few days later, she receives a Polaroid of him; on the bottom of the photograph are the words "I’ll Come Back to Get You", and on the back is written their six-year-old son’s name. Is he the ransom or the kidnapper’s next target?

Assistant Chief Detective Steve Willards heads up the task force assigned to the case, along with FBI profiler Gail Skillman. They quickly learn that every person involved has a secret, and the truth is only as reliable as memory. A week later, Penny Spencer’s husband, Graham, doesn’t return from work, and she receives a Polaroid of her husband - on the bottom of the photo is written "One, Two, Don’t be Blue, I’ll Come Back to Get You"; their son’s name is written on the back.

Before Willards and Skillman can unravel the motivation of the twisted kidnapper, one person is murdered, a third adult is taken, and one of the children is abducted. It isn’t until an assault is made on the FBI profiler that the final pieces fall into place, but even then it may be too late for those who have read the words "I’ll Come Back to Get You".

The narrator totally killed it for me.

Is this a good book?

I have no idea. Because I couldn’t get past the first few chapters. The narrator is slow and monotonous. It took me back to the time when audiobooks were narrated in dry, uninteresting ways by boring people.

If I pick this book up and read it, I may update my review. But to be honest, I’m not sure I will. Because I fear I will summon the ghost of this narrator, and he will follow me around, slowly narrating my every move in his tedious way.
