Publisher's Summary

"Intricate and nuanced - on par with the best top-flight psychological suspense." (LA Times)

International Best Seller

From master of suspense Lisa Unger comes a riveting thriller about a chance encounter that unravels a stunning web of lies.

Selena Murphy is commuting home on the train when she strikes up a conversation with a beautiful stranger in the next seat. The woman introduces herself as Martha and soon confesses that she’s been stuck in an affair with her boss. Selena, in turn, confesses that she suspects her husband is sleeping with the nanny. When the train arrives at Selena’s station, the two women part ways, presumably never to meet again.

Then the nanny disappears.

As Selena is pulled into the mystery of what happened, and as the fractures in her marriage grow deeper, she begins to wonder, who was Martha really? But she is hardly prepared for what she’ll discover....

Too many bad reviews

This book held my interest. Perhaps a bit too long. I have to say that there are so many bad reviews across all titles that I need to close my eyes and pick a book! Audible take note

Confessions on a Train Wreck

A complete hot mess of maudlin purple prose, wrapped in an implausible plot, tied up with a bow of male-bashing and psycho-babble, with messy loose ends hanging out the sides. You have to wonder how a book this bad actually got published. The narrator isn’t terrible, but doesn’t do this awful story any favors.

Had to really pay attention

This is not the type of book you can listen to while doing other things. I really had to pay attention to all the characters, and there was a lot of going back and forth from past to present. I had trouble in the beginning, but I quickly figured things out. All the characters are intertwined and there were some surprises along the way. I really enjoyed this book.

Very disappointed

Looked forward to listening to this, the little blurbs sounded good... I couldn’t keep track of who the character were and the storyline seemed to keep bouncing around.
Don’t waste your money:(

Great book!

Another great book by a great author! I just love Lisa unger books, her characters are so complex and she writes great plots! I am sad the book ended and want to read more! I hope her other book comes out soon. Not a sequel book, this one is stand alone. I highly recommend it! She never disappoints!

Lisa Unger at her best!

I have read most of Lisa’s books after discovering her work several years ago. This is one of her best!

awesome read (or listen)

I rarely leave reviews, but I really enjoyed this book. There was so much that was obvious, but enough surprises to make it very good. I highly recommend.

Attention Grabber!

This was a well written book. It quickly grabbed my attention and then the introduction of new characters kept it suspenseful and well done on tying the characters together.

Great Listen

The narrator can sometimes narrate like an Alexa but overall it is a great listen.

Good storyline, with plenty of suspense and twists.

Irritated yet intrigued

A story with so many different scenes that made me drop my chin. While I was reading the book, I always thought about what would happen, but each time I was pleasantly surprised. A story about love, identity, and community. Why this book did not get a full pot of grades is because I got so annoyed at the main character's reaction towards her husband and his actions. How naive this woman could be. Only that sometimes got me triggered by irritation.

nice idea but...

struggling to finish this book. The pace is off, just as it's moving forward, it gets stopped in it's tracks by ALOT of over description of trivial things.
The entire story could have been told in half the time.

death warmed up

Hated it. Monologue of depressive recounting of affairs in a deadbeat style. Yawn... Don't even try.

I can continue this story. So unbelievable and all characters unpleasant. I don’t want to listen to this it’s just stupid.
