Too much and yet not enough

If you want to beg or bargain with your doctor for treatment, this is the book for you. While the author delivers an amazing amount of information, I found myself continuously mad and yelling back at my phone.

Menopause is generally presented in the book as a wonderful, peaceful transition filled with temporary minor symptoms, which was far from my experience. I imagine that any woman with that experience is not looking for the advice in this book.

And if you do want to act on the author's advice, her "how to talk to your doctor" sections all suggest to say, "doctor, I've heard progesterone is good for sleep, is it okay if I take some?" Like you are a 12 year old asking to go to a party.

I understand the author isn't a doctor and needs to protect herself, but the continuous "talk to your doctor" advice is bogus. I had to go to 4 doctors before one would consider hormone replacement therapy for a menopausal woman.

So just fair warning. Lots of information here, but you're still basically on your own.

Edit: I just finished the book and decided to get some of the supplemental information the author suggests the reader print out. I also wanted to review recommended dosages of supplements since there is no possible way to remember it all when listening. We'll.... There are no supplemental articles, PDFs or appendices included with this book. So frustrating.

I am so tempted to lower my rating, but instead, I'll just suggest you purchase the paper copy instead of the audio book. At least you'll get all the info that the book includes.

One nit: should have read this 5 years earlier :)

Great info, narrator has a beautifully calming voice. Wish I had read this earlier. Would have saved me lots of experimenting with supplements.

Every Woman Should Read this Book!

My CNM recommended this book and I loved every minute of it. So informative. Wish this was information taught to all girls in school.

The author reads the book and her voice is so calm and soothing. Highly recommend.

Interesting read on preparing for menopause

T her information reinforces a lot of what naturopaths and the functional medicine world says about taking care of yourself. Eat well, get sufficient rest, reduce stress, and exercise. Not a long list, but definitely lots of lifestyle choices to get us off course. Narrator sounded a little robotic.

Every woman in her forty’s should read this

I can’t stop recommending this book to friends and loved ones. Very minor tweaks I’ve made because of this book have already relieved brain fog and indigestion. I feel I will revisit this as I make my way towards menopause.

It’s a bit monotone.

Whilst this is an interesting subject to me, I found the voice just too monotone. I realise that this might be the side effect of reading a non fiction book but she should definitely look into doing meditation as I fell asleep many times listening to it. There was no inflection in her voice to differentiate between sentences. Great content, just not delivered with any light or shade.
