Publisher's summary

Combining the latest developments and research discoveries, board-certified gastroenterologist and medical host on CNN and Fox News, Dr. Roshini Raj shows the ways in which the microbiome impacts overall well-being, and helps readers reset their biological clocks by improving their gut health.

With one in four Americans suffering from digestive health issues every day, gut health has become an increasingly important part of wellness. With the human body, so many issues can be improved upon, or cured, by balancing the microbiome. But the microbiome—a community of bacteria, viruses, and yeasts that dwell in the body—has long been something that the average person can find baffling—and maybe a little bit gross.

By offering simple and straightforward answers to questions like what one should be eating, what probiotics are, which vitamins and medicines really work, Dr. Raj demystifies the gut. She uses the idea of a home renovation to show how different organs and parts of the body can be “renovated” in order to optimize the microbiome. After all, balancing one’s microbiome improves digestive health, brain function, emotional stability, the body’s response to inflammation, immunity, and lessens premature aging.

Melding the latest developments and discoveries in microbiome research, along with Dr. Raj’s practical tips developed from her years of clinical experience, Gut Renovation shows readers how to turn back the biological clock and revamp the way they live forever.

Great information

Easy to read and informative! I’ve already taken some classes on fitness and nutrition in college so I am glad I had already developed some of the good habits that were mentioned in this book. In this book I learned a lot more about how important daily probiotics are to our bodies! Overall great read!

Very insightful

This book has definitely given me an insite on what I need to do to help build a healthier body. It’s not just about eating right but goes in depth on what to eat and why you should eat it what it will specifically do to help your gut health. The what and especially why is what I like about the book. I didn’t realize so many things in our everyday can have and affect on our gut health, from small things to large and even things that seems minuscule.

Some good info but…

This was recommended on an intermittent fasting group to gain more info on gut health and how to improve it. I found the science behind the gut micro biome interesting and the suggestions for supplements helpful. But all animal fats bad? And, she never mentioned coconut oil but since it is a monosaturated fat, it seems that she considers it “bad” along with butter. This book encourages the Mediterranean diet, which is fine, but suggestions like pack yogurt cups for snacks(which are almost always high in sugar - something she is clear is a danger to your gut micro biome) was strange to me. Also, she recommended 3 meals a day plus snacks, something that is antithetical to intermittent fasting.
I couldn’t listen after the first 3 chapters.
