Started out good but became repetitive

The story started off good, but became predictable. The last couple of books mostly felt like a recycled version of the first couple. I would’ve like more character development. What happened to Charlie’s parents? Why did Charlie’s ex-husband go rogue? I would’ve liked more history on the Inn as well.

I really wanted to like the narrator, but her mispronunciation of the word “library” as “liberry” really start to get on my nerves, especially as so much happened in the library.

The story is cute but has a shadow element of another author’s series. This is the second series I have found that has this predictable similarities. Yes, there are differences so it’s not a complete copycat but it is obvious.

The reader is not believable either. She sounds too young. She does not have the serious voice of someone who would have had experience as an ex-spy. As a character portrayal it would have been okay but the narration is lacking the authority and knowledge of the world the protagonist comes from.

This series also lacks the levity that would help the improve the enjoyment of setting and characters. Then again it might have taken it closer the OG series similarities.

It’s okay for light listening and it’s good that it is free from Audible. It fills the time with just enough curiosity factor to finish the listen.

It was ok.

I won't say it was a terrible listen. I will however say that it was a tough listen. I would've liked a little more background on the main character if nothing else just to fill in some of the repetitive storyline. the accents changes throughout the book, along with the pronunciation of certain words. I would have to say the changing of character names was probably the most disturbing for me though like Jason turned to Jordan and in a previous book the girl that died was referred to by her sisters name. Overall it was meh.

Love grandma!! Enjoyed listening to over the holiday break. Very entertaining and fun. Some of the plot points were repetitive but not predictable.

It was a good pastime to listen to while I was on vacation. I would recommend to others.

Phenomenally Entertaining Who-Done-It Series

The character development, the writing, the voices, the twists and turns and unexpected angles all combined to create a light-hearted, though very entertaining, mystery series. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Narrator and character poor

It was difficult to listen to the narrator who did not even know that there is an r in library. The cadence of the narrator is very fast making it seem like they were rushing to get it done. As far as the characters, they are supposed to be a spy part of a national spy network. However, they must be the dumbest spy’s ever. The nemesis outsmarts them through 6 books only to be stopped by running into a door. Really!
