At The Laughing Loaf Bakery in the California redwoods, the menu includes brioche, cinnamon rolls...and murder!

One day, Gracie Markley is a happily married tech manager in Seattle. The next day, she turns in her husband to the FBI for selling tech secrets and her life is changed forever. Under the witness protection program, Gracie, her dog Biga, and her absent-minded professor father are relocated to the small town of River Grove in the Northern California redwoods.

Leaving her tech past behind, Gracie starts The Laughing Loaf Bakery, hires a young assistant, Beck Rodriguez, and intends to keep a low profile in her new town—until a male model ends up dead behind her bakery. To keep her business and her new life in River Grove, Gracie and her little dog Biga must find out who killed the gorgeous Nico Behrens.

Good twist as whodunnit is revealed

This looks like a great start to a new series. The narration was a bit hard to listen to at first but got better as the sorry pressed or as I became accustomed to the narrator's voice. At times it was a bit hard to distinguish which character was speaking.

Great story, awesome build up to the end!!

Man if you love the smell of a bakery, detective stories, and mounting action to a great conclusion, this is the book for you. The descriptions of the baked goods coming out of the Laughing Loaf Will make your mouth water, and you can feel the warm smell of baked goods massaging your respiratory system as you read. And this is all while enjoying a great thriller, with a slow build to a fabulous action-packed ending. This is the first book in Victoria Kazarian's Laughing Loaf series, and I hear it gets even better from here. The audio performance is quite good, and this is a great commute listen which is how I have digested a large library of audiobooks, and this is quite up there with some of my favorites. Check it out!!!
