Publisher's summary

A Killer Coffee Cozy Mystery is a series about small town gossip, family, friends, and putting differences aside when troubles brews. Do you love to listen to stories about family and friendships? Do you enjoy holidays, festivals, and celebrations? What about when life isn't always rosy? This series has all of that and more along with twisty turn mysteries that will have you rooting for the entire town of Honey Springs.

Scene of the Grind is the first book in USA Today best-selling author Tonya Kappes' new A Killer Coffee Mystery Series. The series takes place in the cozy southern fictional tourist town of Honey Springs, Kentucky. Roxanne Bloom (her friends, though few call her Roxie) quit her job as a lawyer, divorced her cheating husband, and moved to the quaint town of Honey Springs, Kentucky where she'd spent many of her teenage summers visiting her eccentric and fun-loving Aunt Maxi.

Roxy follows her dream and opens The Bean Hive, Honey Springs first coffee house on the town's newly revitalized boardwalk, opening just in time for Honey Springs annual Honey Festival. Roxy's life couldn't be better. Business was booming, she's reconnected with special people from her past, including her first teenage love, and visits The Crooked Cat book store, which is still her favorite shop in Honey Springs.

Cute stories - easy listening

The recording on the last story is awful - very hard to listen to. I did not enjoy this narration

Poor narration

Story three was not narrated well. Sounded very unprofessional, definitely makes me not want to spend my money on this author.

Well???

I like that the characters are over 30 and older. The storyline was not very engaging. When I started Tonya Kappas’ Campers and Criminal series I struggled to engage but by the end of the 2nd book I was hooked and listened to the entire series available on Audible.

To be fair, the issue may have been the narrators rather than the storyline itself. The 1st narrator was pretty good but the person narrating the 3rd book was not. I have purchased the next set of stories, 4 - 6 with the hope that the new narrator will help me engage.

I really like supporting authors that I enjoy (Tonya Kappas) thus hoping that this series will become something that I am excited to follow the characters through their antics and growth ending with a sense of loss when the series is over.

First 2 are ok; last one sounds like the narrator is in a cave

The recording of the first 2 is fine. The audio quality of Book 3 though is not good. Also, being a lawyer, some of the things mentioned about getting a law license, and being a lawyer, are not accurate. It is jarring.

Good story. Terrible narrator

I enjoy this author. The narrator was awful, had a difficult time finishing the book because of her.

Enjoyable listen for the morning part

Enjoyed the stories. The narrator for the first two books was great. The one for the last was irritating. Sounded more like a very hyper teen than a woman in her 30’s.

Story three was really poorly edited.

It makes me hesitant to buy the next installment. It sounded like the narrator was at the other end of the room from the microphone. There were numerous c sections owners it seemed v like there were multiple takes, but they were all left in so passages were repeated. I like the author and the story was good.

Sorry 3 was produced poorly

The production of the third book was terrible. It was very hard to listen to it with the sound being off and many dialog repeats.

Book 3 - narrator leaves a lot to be desired.

Books 1-2 - enjoyed. Book 3 is a struggle. There is a different narrator, volume can't be adjusted to cover the highs and lows of her voice. There's a hiss in her dialect and the sound quirky is atrocious. Not normal Kappas quality.

A good cup of coffee & sweet cleats up everything

I found this set of books showed the inner workings and secrets of small town living.
