Audio does not include calendars

The book is great for people to start their fitness journey BUT it’s missing information.

Only con is that it does not include all of the material discussed in the book. Accompanying pdf does not include calendars which are vital to begin regimen described.

The Reader is awful!

I dont know if the content was good. i couldnt focus pass the monotone reading.

Great content, not successful as an audio book

the pdf needs more content. she gives a lot of great instructions in the audio, these are not all reflected in the pfd. if the pdf was more inclusive, so the reader doesnt have to make their own notebook of notes, it would be great. its almost worth not getting the audio version for this reason, its not even read by the author. to sum it up great content, but the audio version is not user friendly. if you are serious about going on Mel's journey the physical book is prob a better option.

mels insta stories... in audio form.

it was kinda hard to listen to...

cause usually you hear mel on her stories on instagram, she's always yelling and yes positively yelling at people to complete their workouts.

in glad that she can motivate people, but I was wanting more activitiy type tips. it was mostly the same sentence repeated over and over again..."I don't give a BLEEP, giving them middle finger salute" deal...

I think I rather just follow her on insta and wait for a better book that focuses on the workout compared to this book

Inspiring!

Can't wait to get started on the program. I've already started with the water. And Im on day 3. For the most part Im already a clean eater, so eating wont be a problem. But getting back in the gym and working out everyday will be the biggest challenge! Looking forward to the challenge!

A must have

Melissa Alcantara is so real and just so raw with everything she says and does. It’s hard not to gravitate towards her content. The only downside is that she didn’t narrate the book herself lol! Lots of good info and insight as always, love this book!

Highly recommend for anyone wanting to transform their bodies and minds

I have been working out for 17 years. This book makes it simple. Mel teaches you basic and fundamental nutrition and work outs. It’s easy to understand. And makes it simple (not easy 😉) to put into action. Thank you Mel for making this book. I will be doing your workouts. And cannot wait for the results and I will be using your mental tips along the way.

Great but workout program not included

Listening to Mel is definitely a kick up the bum especially for new mums. She’s so realisable and real. She tasks things back to basics.

My only programme is that the workout program isn’t included in the ebook which defeats the purpose. Instead there’s around 100 pages of demonstrations of different moves. Can this be changed to include the program?

My review would of been 5 stars if it weren’t for this.

I love Melissa so this was a bit disapointing

The main thing is that the workouts are not written anywhere you need to listen and write them down which is ridiculous as all the foods etc are there to see. I didn't finish it because I felt I couldn't follow along properly.

I think buying the actual book would be better.

Ticks All the Boxes

I am always wary of fitness and diet books because the industry is so riddled with bs.

You have people with no training calling themselves personal trainers and even going so far as to start life coaching and prescribing foods as nutritionists. James Smith is a classic example and, if I'm to be very honest, so is Melissa.
Between the two of them, James has an exercise certificate. And if I am honest, I will admit that when I stumbled across Alcantara on YouTube and then discovered she was training Kardashians, I groaned inwardly and thought, oh fk no.

That said, I really like this book.

For me, the crux of a decent book is not the plot but how it is delivered by the reader. And it also really helps if that reader is from the same culture as the author. A bad reader can absolutely break a good book.

In this case, Fernanda Hughes has not only NAILED it but has managed to harness that sass that Melissa is known for. I found myself enjoying a giggle or two while listening and you know, ultimately, entertainment is what this Audible game is all about. So it's five stars from me.

In terms of story, you've got the usual poverty based origins and bad health choices going on. But Melissa makes some salient points about rising out of what life throws at you and you cannot take that away from her. Some would say she really got lucky with Kardashian's patronage but, to be fair, the girl is a natural. She is living her vision.

Overall, I was entertained. I liked the life advice aspect and the connection she makes between mindset and fitness success. There's this New York No Nonsense attitude and as an Aussie who just can't stand all that fluff and brand based imagery, I really love that. When she says "...I'm your girl..." I answer "...yes ma'am, you are.."

Not an easy book to adapt to audio

The first chapter (her story) was fine.... But as you get into the book, most of it is the speaker reading out workout routine in a monotone voice (eg: number of reps, weight).
I did not find this book motivating at all. I'm sure the hard copy book would be more suitable.

For beginners

This book is directed at absolute beginners who need to be told where their actual muscles are situated on their body. Good, but not a lot to gain if your are fitness savvy already.....
