Inspired to reconnect with her prickly mother and snarky teenage niece, Nora returns home for the summer, where she's forced to face the people she's spent the last ten years trying to avoid.

And what of the future Mrs de Courcy? Alicia is determined to be the perfect politician's wife. But does she know the real Paddy de Courcy?
Four very different women. One awfully charming man. And the dark secret that binds them all...
Absolutely amazing stuff. I could hardly believe how much I enjoyed this book. The narration was lively and enjoyable (adorable accents) and the story itself was brilliant. I really do enjoy Marian Keyes' portrayal of strong, smart and yet flawed women. I think that much of her brilliance lies in her ability to pull her reader in with humour, and then deliver her sucker punch. I also liked that it was a big fat long unabridged book - totally creditworthy! :)

I liked all the characters! They were all different and had their own really interesting personalities.
Any additional comments?
Brilliant!
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This is the second and last book I will read by Marion Keyes. Where does she find such stupid dopey women. Or is it because they are irish????? Recommended for people with no brain.
What could Marian Keyes have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Not written it
What does Caroline Lennon bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Excellent reading of a dreadful book
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from This Charming Man?
The lot
Any additional comments?
Enough said I think
What would have made This Charming Man better?
The story lost me after chapter one.
What was most disappointing about Marian Keyes’s story?
Seemed all over the place listened to,three chapters and gave up.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Narration not the best
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
No
Any additional comments?
Her books generally read better, but this one did not translate to audible at all. Quite a disappointment to say the least.
Would you listen to This Charming Man again? Why?
The narrator really brings the story to life, she is great.
What was one of the most memorable moments of This Charming Man?
There are many 'laugh out loud' moments that I really enjoyed, also many moments of discomfort as more difficult subjects are discussed. The narrator did a great job of them all.
Which scene was your favorite?
Lots of the scenes that Lola is in. I like, "He's got his own look, and he's working it". Also loved Grace.
If you could rename This Charming Man, what would you call it?
I wouldn't
Would you try another book from Marian Keyes and/or Caroline Lennon?
I am only a few hours into Lola's story, and I can't take it anymore! Love the way it is versed, and the narrator is fantastic, but I can't stomach one more screw-up by the character. Flawed is one thing, but predictable mishaps are another - and no pride at all! No male character would ever be written this way. Please, if it gets better, let me know!!! I have over 20 hours left on this book.
This book is a great listen. The writing really gets you involved in the characters, and leaves you wanting more. Marian takes you into some serious issues while keeping it light enough to not dishearten the reader. Fantastic!
Probably just not my cup of tea or caught me on a bad day, but I can’t listen any more, the story is repetitive, and so lame, the style of writing ; a kind of clipped shorthand doesn’t work with narration for me.
I’ll be returning it for a refund

Oh dear this really didn't suit me at all. What a waste of money. Bits of it were interesting - but they were few and far between. I didn't like the diary style of writing, or at least not one that needed an entry every few minutes. The Marnie story was just plain boring. Perhaps I would have enjoyed an abridged version more, but I usually enjoy long books, and normally love Marian Keyes work which I find amusing and upbeat in the main. Apart from the diary, it was hard to see where Paddy fitted in. Altogether a depressing book. Not my sort of thing sadly.

A really good story well thought out and well written. The characters are beautifully drawn and the writing is witty and humorous. Sometimes funny, sometimes pitiful, sometimes just downright sad, but always enjoyable. The narrator does a wonderful job too. I shall look out for more books by this author and can recommend this one wholeheartedly.

This is a brilliant book . Marian Keyes has incredible talent , her character descriptions are so detailed that for a long time after you finish reading the book you find yourself thinking of the people in her story , she makes them very real. The story keeps you guessing , very unpredictable , funny and worth while listening to.

dissapointed after all the hype. this book is 'everywhere'! but really not my kind of book i guess. not into this 'diary' style of writing. very light weight & 'fluffy'. a real 'chic' book. no substance. i choose long books to listen to as i drive a lot. but this one has failed to hold my attention & the reader's voice 'grates' some what. i dont even find it funny. though it would appear lots of people have. maybe this time i chose wrong!

I love Marian Keyes, I identify with her on a personal level and also enjoy her other books. However I found this one different. There was a long fluted build up with lots of detail. When it got to the point it was a subtle exposè. Then the conclusion was over in one chapter.

I'm an avid Keyes fan, and this book, in my opinion is one of her best! It's well narrated, and laugh out loud funny, but also has a 'keep you guessing' element. If you like Marion Keyes, then don't hesitate in getting this download!

loved it. don't be put off by the length of this book because it really is four books in one, although they all link up to make a very cleverly written novel. thoroughly enjoyed it.

This book has some of the most annoying writing ever!!! A third of the book doesn't use prepositions which is like listening to someone read a grocery list. I persevered because it was rated so high but the author really needs a rap over the knuckles for using such poor skills. Other than that third it's not too bad.

The style of writing is terribly hard to listen to and NOT like other Marian Keyes books at all. If this had been the first book of hers I would have never read another. Even though the style was awful, I wanted to hear the story through as the story itself was ok, good even but half way through, it changed to a totally different book!! I shuffled forward and sure enough, it was a whole other book.
Love the language in this book, I predict will return to it again and again.
Laughed..cried..angry..relieved. Too true to life. Events can mould people to the way they turn out.
What did you like best about This Charming Man? What did you like least?
My overwhelming response to this book is locked in with the Lola character whose speech was ridiculously (and sometimes confusingly) abbreviated ...e.g. "Why you not stop when hear siren? ... rather like a spoken version of an sms, or a non-native English speaker. It defies my comprehension as to why the author would have gone down this path as it almost ruined a great narrative.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
The ending wrapped up all the threads quite nicely.
Was This Charming Man worth the listening time?
This book was very long, and from time to time I did pause to wonder whether the length was justified. However, with the story moving well between characters and events, I would say that the length represented excellent value and that the narrative was worth the time.
Any additional comments?
Marian Keyes has written some very enjoyable books and this one was no exception, but I sincerely hope her experiment with the Lola Speak is done with forever!
This book was really different to how I thought it would be. I loved it though. The characters who are all linked were interesting and I honesty couldn't pick a favorite. I also really liked how the narrator spoke in different ways for each character. Sometimes it was as if one of the characters spoke in bullets points or note form.
I really enjoyed this book and got more and more addicted the further the story went along.
I am totally addicted! I laugh and I cry and become completely immersed in Marian’s stories. They are so real and this is no exception. The characters are brilliantly brought together by Marian and brought to life by Caroline’s narration. I did not want it to end...
Would you listen to This Charming Man again? Why?
Yes, I have l listened to it twice already, and enjoyed it as much the second time.
What was one of the most memorable moments of This Charming Man?
The confrontation.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book made me laugh out loud and cry.
Any additional comments?
Great listen!
Really funny and entertaining. The only irritatingly annoying thing was the word dropping, such as "the" "and" "a".Easy enough to add in my head as the narrator is reading, but why do it? The narration was excellent.I will certainly purchase more of Marian Keyes books.

Half way through the first book the narrative just stops and a completely new story starts. Must be an error because it makes absolutely no sense!
