Publisher's Summary

Being broke, unemployed, and stranded back in the tiny town of Pick, Texas, was not part of Jancy Wilson's plan. Yet here she is, watching her car literally go up in smoke - along with her last-ditch hope of staying with her cousin in Louisiana. When Jancy spies a Help Wanted sign hanging in the window of the quaint Strawberry Hearts Diner, the memories of the two years she spent there as a teenager - and the lure of the diner's beloved strawberry tarts - are enough to draw her in and plant her feet...but only temporarily.

Raised by parents who refused to settle anywhere for long, Jancy has never known what it is to have roots. Now that Jancy's swept up by the warmth and character of this quirky little community - and by the pull of an old crush - it's beginning to feel like home. She's making friends and even discovering the sweetness of falling in love. But when the town is threatened, Jancy knows it will take more than its legendary tarts to save it. Can she fight for this little Texas town - knowing she might not stay forever?

Witty, Worthy, Wise and Wonderful Women

Jancy, Vicky, Nettie and Emily . . . young, old, seasoned and not . . . all together working side by side at the Strawberry Hearts Diner . . . .cooking, laughing and crying together . . . each one with a story . . . one so afraid of putting down any roots . . . so afraid of letting herself hope . . . until two women were brave enough to take her under their wings . . . and share their home, their diner and their souls with her . . . I love Carolyn Brown's books . . . I can count on real down-to-earth stories about common folks facing the same kinds of troubles that come to us all . . . and I get to mourn with them, grow with them and celebrate with them . . . I am never disappointed . . . I wish there was a sequel to the Strawberry Hearts Diner . . . because I really need to know about the next chapter in these four amazing women's lives . . .

5 The Strawberry Hearts Diner Stars

I don’t know what I expected when I picked up this book but I am go glad I did.

Jancy finds herself right where she needs to be, and surrounded by people who just want to help her. But she needs to find this out on her own.

Nettie and Vicky own The Strawberry Hearts Diner and when Jancy needs a job they are more than happy to let her in.

I think they needed her as much as she needed them and Vicky’s daughter Emily comes home she and Jancy become fast friends.

Now I don’t normally like to summarize my reviews anymore but I just loved the small town the diner and the friends Jancy meets along the way.

It’s more of a tale of how all these women find what they need. And yes sometimes that means romance but not always. I just had the warm fuzzes throughout this whole book and I want everyone to give it a chance.

Now there might not be descriptive loven time.. But you know when its happening and sometimes that’s totally ok in a romance book.
I very much enjoyed the narration too. I was exactly what this book needed.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Enjoyable narration, horrible story

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, I would not. The main character is a flat, incredibly annoying, self pitying Mary Sue character with no depth. It was agony trying to get through the book.

Has The Strawberry Hearts Diner turned you off from other books in this genre?

Hopefully not, I've listened to other lighthearted reads that were much better than this one.

Which character – as performed by Brittany Pressley – was your favorite?

I enjoyed all the characters except Jancy, although that was no fault of Brittany Preslsey's. I would listen to other books she narrates.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Nope.

Any additional comments?

Would avoid all books by this author.

A sweet romance

A nice summer read with characters you wish were your friends, in a small town you may find yourself wanting to live in. Definitely worth the credit.

Lovely Listen!

A sweet, old-fashioned story of a family who pulls together through the tough times. I thought I was too jaded for something like this. I was wrong. It was beautiful!
