Publisher's Summary

When Lilith Whitmore, the well-heeled House Corp president of Alpha Delta Beta, appoints recent empty-nester Wilda to the Rush Advisory Board, Wilda can hardly believe her luck. What's more, Lilith suggests their daughters, both incoming freshman, room together. What Wilda doesn't know is that it's all part of Lilith's plan to ensure her own daughter receives an Alpha Delt bid - no matter what.

Cali Watkins possesses all the qualities sororities are looking for in a potential new member. She's kind and intelligent, makes friends easily, even plans to someday run for governor. But her resume lacks a vital ingredient: pedigree. Without family money, Cali's chances of sorority membership are already thin, but she has an even bigger problem. If anyone discovers the dark family secrets she's hiding, she'll be dropped from rush in an instant.

For 25 years, Miss Pearl has been housekeeper and a second mother to the Alpha Delt girls, even though it reminds her of a painful part of her past she'll never forget. When an opportunity for promotion arises, it seems a natural fit. But Lilith Whitmore slams her Prada heel down fast, crushing Miss Pearl's hopes of a better future. When Wilda and the girls find out, they devise a plan destined to change Alpha Delta Beta - and maybe the entire Greek system - forever.

A HUGE fan of Bahni Turpin!

I loved this book, and it was enhanced by listening to the Audible version. The Help is in my top 3 all time favorite Audible Books and having the voice of Abileen (Bahni Turpin) read for Miss Pearl adds to my love of this novel. I went through Rush in the 80's but at a smaller school and we did not have sorority houses. I loved the insight this book provided and was pleasantly surprised at the way economic and racial injustices were confronted as well. I also appreciated the author's note at the end which gave even more insight into the foundation of the novel.

Absolutely Fantastic

This tender story pulled at my heartstrings. And made me laugh out loud! Ms. Ronconi and Ms. Turpin made me feel like I was inside the Alpha Delta Beta sorority house on the Ole Miss campus. Thank you to author, Lisa Patton, for creating a story the world needs to hear right now! Bravo and kudos to all! I loved it!

Great book!

Fantastic insight into the love between the women on staff and the collegiate women. I am so grateful for my time in my sorority and loved the women who took care of us. They are a huge part of my story in my chapter. It would not have been the same experience without knowing and loving them.

A great read with good lessons learned. All college girls should read!

I was actually sorority girl in the mid 1970’at a University that is part of the SEC today. I throughly enjoyed reliving some of my college memories through Lisa’s story.
Tho I too never thought about the benefits for the wonderful, kind ladies with their big servant hearts who worked so hard for us. They loved us and we loved them. I appreciate Lisa going deeper to create an awareness for all. And hope major change is coming about.
I have chosen Rush for my book club. If you are in Memphis on January, 31, 2019, we would love to have you join us!
Great book and have chosen it for my book club in January 31, 2019.

A great Southern story - LOVED it

Loved this book! It’s a modern day “The Help” meets southern school sorority life. A little drawn out in some places but on the other hand, I didn’t want it to end. One of my favorite audible purchases. I’ll also be buying the actual book just to have.

A MUST READ, UNTIL THE VERY END!!

This truly is a must read(listen). I was never in a sorority but this isn't really about sororities, it's about change and opportunities. Changes that would make all of us better & open our eyes to issues where they've been closed. If we help even just one person it could forever change their lives and hopefully the lives of many others! So AWESOME!!!

Profound moral to the story

Predictable story but important message about racism and established, harmful traditions and their toll on society.
