Publisher's Summary

Back on Earth with nothing more to show for his long, strange trip through time and space than a ratty towel and a plastic shopping bag, Arthur Dent is ready to believe that the past eight years were all just a figment of his stressed-out imagination. But a gift-wrapped fishbowl with a cryptic inscription, the mysterious disappearance of Earth's dolphins, and the discovery of his battered copy of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy all conspire to give Arthur the sneaking suspicion that something otherworldly is indeed going on.

God only knows what it all means. And fortunately, He left behind a Final Message of explanation. But since it's light-years away from Earth, on a star surrounded by souvenir booths, finding out what it is will mean hitching a ride to the far reaches of space aboard a UFO with a giant robot. But what else is new?

Don't miss more from this exciting series, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Hitchhiker is just plain fun

Hitchhiker is just plain fun. I loved the series when i was young. I read it in college, and again in Med school, and again when i started reading for pleasure again, and now I am going to listen to them all.
I cannot wait. I just wish Douglas was alive for more, but I am about to read Coffer's installment (or try) for a 6th book in the series.

Missing Adams' classic narration, but still great.

I grew up with the audiocassettes of the entire Hitchhiker's series, and loved Doug Adams narration. The story on this one is still one of my favorites of the series, but i do kind of miss the voice delivering the lines that i somehow still know by heart.

Great Book, Amazing Narrator

This already great book was enhanced by the narrator's expressive and soothing voice. Characters were expressed and the story enhanced by him. Great read.

Biased review, old fan.

What can I say?
You either love Douglas Adams or you have lived as an illiterate hermit with no exposure to books or humour for your entire life. It’s like a SFW-version of the Monty Python’s Flying Circus and with more coherency. I mean I love Monty Python but sometimes you basically had to be one of them to get the joke.
And having his old buddy Stephen Fry narrate the story is like a dream come true.
To me it’s what Pride and Prejudice is to others. This is the one I come back to to re-read and I’d bring anything from Douglas Adams to a lonely island. British sci-fi at its best.
