Publisher's Summary

Cassie Madison has it all: A high-powered advertising career; a stylish Manhattan apartment; and a sophisticated, rich, and gorgeous fiancé. It's a far cry from her childhood in Walton, Georgia, home of the annual Kudzu Festival and hot, sticky summers.

And then there are all the bad memories, the heartache. When Cassie's estranged sister calls to say that her father is dying, Cassie knows it's time to set aside her feelings and go home and face the sister she hasn't seen in 15 years.

When her father dies, he leaves the family home to Cassie, who can't wait to get rid of it and get back to New York, her job, and her fiancé, even if it means having a developer tear down the house.

But something keeps her in Walton, and she doesn't know if it's her mending relationship with her sister; the irresistible, aggravating Sam Parker, who wants her to preserve her house; or the feeling of finally being home.

    "good story"

I enjoyed this book almost as much as other books by this author. Not as much intrigue as her others but still a good one. The southern drawl.was quite drawn-out at times. If it bothers you just speed it up

    "Good listen"

I enjoyed listening to this book and would recommend it to others who like this kind of story. It is different enough that you really get into to the characters and near the end I was in tears and laughing with them.

    "very disappointed"
What disappointed you about Falling Home?

narration and story line. Both were silly and trite

Would you ever listen to anything by Karen White again?

    perhaps

Would you be willing to try another one of Lyssa Browne’s performances?

    perhaps

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Falling Home?

The main characterCassie, would be rewritten to be a stronger woman with more sense.

Sorry, but I found this story slow and it just dragged on and on. The longer I listened to this book, the more I began to dislike Cassie. She was a good person, but I found her to have a weak personality. All through the book everyone kept saying she was afraid. She never stood up for herself and maybe I missed something but I don't think the book ever showed her coming to grips about what she was afraid about. She was gone for 15 years and people acted like they knew her better than she knew herself. For as long as this book lasted, not much depth was put into the characters.

Excellent story. Excellent reader. I wept through the latter half when Harriet was given her grim diagnosis. My sister has the same diagnosis and I gasped as the plot unfolded!! There is life and there is death and then there is life again. I really enjoy listening to a book without cursing and foul language and deeds. Thank you Karen White.

    Story
"Excellent Intro to Karen White books."

I've recently become aware that I might be missing out by having not known or never read any books by Karen White. While I wait for The Sound of Glass to become available in paperback I thought I'd try an audiobook by her.

I enjoyed it very much. It was a little slow moving to start with, but after awhile the story most certainly picked up pace and action. I liked Cassie who had fled from her home when her sister married the man she loved and she'd never returned for fifteen years. I liked her family - her sister Harriet, Joe and all their children. Her Aunt Lucinda too and all the other quirky characters.

There is some mystery and their is some heartache. Through it all Cassie comes to know what she really values and where her heart is.

Sam is a wonderful character, so caring, so loving and so firm. He made me laugh when he went all "southern" and "slow" when he was meeting Andrew, Cassie's fiancé.

I thought the narrator did a fine job. I read a review that downed her southern accent, but not knowing the finer points of a Georgian accent, it did not bother me in the least. The voice for her characters was well done. I'd certainly listen to any book she narrated. I'm only sad I won't be able to listen to the follow up to this book - After The Rain, as it is not available to me on Audible. I'll be reading it though!

    "Excellent story-sorry Southern accents"
What did you like best about Falling Home? What did you like least?

The main character being back home and not knowing whether she wants to go back to her life. The woes thing about this book is the "fake" sounding Southern accents. I'm from southeast Georgia and no one talked like these folks do. Would help to redo the book with better accents.

    Any additional comments?

It was difficult at times to pay rapt attentive to the book because of the unreal accents.

"Another excellent book by Karen White."

Enjoyed the story very much although it is over sentimental in places. I particularly liked the American context of the narration and the drama that takes place in the Georgia area.

This book was well worth buying, it was full of family warmth and it really gave a sense of homecoming, plus the narration was very good too.
