Publisher's Summary

One day I was bebopping along, jamming to the music in my head while wondering if my thighs could handle grabbing a cupcake on the way home. The next thing I knew, my entire world crashed and burned.

I used to wake up at night in a sweat, crying because I'd dreamt that my husband was cheating on me or that he hated me and resented my kids. He'd always hold me close and tell me it was all just a dream, that he loved me and our family and that he'd never let me go.

He was a f--king liar.

Now I spend my days taking photos of scum just like him, trying to be a champion for others being taken advantage of by the losers in our town, and my nights being a single mom to my beautiful twins.

I've got great friends who have my back and a sexy, mysterious motorcycle man who keeps showing up when I need him. Maybe things are starting to look up, and one thing's for sure.... There's always room for cupcakes.

"Reminds me of Stephanie Plum but more grown up"

I loved this, its the first time I've read/listened to Bethany Lopez but it won't be the last.
The narrator brings the story to life. She reminds me of Barbara Rosenblatt who was one of my first favorite narrators. She differentiates between voices wonderfully.
This audiobook was given to me for free at my request from the publisher or author or narrator and I provided this voluntary review.

I was gifted this Audio ARC for a honest and unbiased review from the author /narrator

Bethany Lopez has written a great book that is a fresh story.
Stephanie Garner outdid herself with the narration.
Lila is a divorced mom of twins who is trying to make ends meet. She goes from being a stay at home mom, to an investigative photographer who takes photos of cheating scum bags who are cheating on their wives.
If you are looking for a great book with humor, then you need to listen to this book.
It was very easy to listen to in one sitting and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end, was kinda tired near the end.
I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.
I highly recommend this Audio Book.

    Story
"A more mature Stephanie Plum-fun and entertaining!"
Would you listen to Always Room for Cupcakes again? Why?

No, I wouldn't listen to Always Room for Cupcakes again. I rarely listen to books more than once, so this isn't a reflection of the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

This whole story revolves around Lila and I have to say that she was definitely my favorite character. If you've read Janet Evanovich, she's like a sassier, more mature (stronger language) Stephanie Plum. She calls her ex-husband "The Douche" throughout the book when referencing him. I enjoyed her a lot.

What does Stephanie Garner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think that Stephanie Garner did a good job with this narration. She's got a solid, strong voice and I could easily differentiate between the various characters. A good narrator can make or break an audiobook. She brought strength and sass to Lila and brought a realness to the the characters.

Who was the most memorable character of Always Room for Cupcakes and why?

Again, the most memorable character for me in this book would have to be Lila for the reasons that I already mentioned above.

    Any additional comments?

Don't let the title fool you! This sounds like a cute novel with NO language and everything very vanilla. Haha...Seriously, if you like Janet Evanovich, you should enjoy this one as well. I could definitely see the author developing these characters more and making this into a series.

Stephanie Garner narrates this, kinda cozy mystery type, story nicely.A woman is cheated on so now she is a photographer taking pics of cheating spouses etc.No matter what, she feels, there is nothing a cupcake can not make better.I liked it.I was provided this book by the author, narrator or publisher.

    "Cute Romantic Suspense"

This was an enjoyable listen. Even though it was a relatively short audio it didn't seem like it. It had the right amount of romance and suspense. There was even some humor in this one. I really liked how this book turned out. Lila was an awesome heroine and she was fearless. This was my first from the narrator. I think she did a good job and was a good fit for this character. Overall a good listen.

    "Adorable story, great performance"

I loved listening to this book, and I want more from this author. The narrator truly brought the story to life, and I had to remind myself at times that the narrator wasn't the author, but that's how well she read it.

The title is a little misleading and is about the only thing I'd change because I went into the book thinking it was about a compulsive eater. But without giving too much away, it's about a woman who figures out a way to make it on her own while at the same time allowing the men in her life to be supportive without carrying her.

Highly recommended modern female mystery type story and truly enjoyable. Loved the profanity. It's nice to see a good, foul-mouthed character because guess what? That's how some modern women talk, present company included!

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review,

What made the experience of listening to Always Room for Cupcakes the most enjoyable?

"This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review."
Wonderful writing, strong characters and a story line credible, funny, and tragic at the same time.

What did you like best about this story?

Lila's capability of making lemonade from those sour lemons life gave her and the lesson not to judge a book by its cover.

Have you listened to any of Stephanie Garner’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Definitely smile...

    Any additional comments?

I didn't find the language used any stronger that many other books on the market and the sexual content was in tune with the story line and not used to create unnecessary drama.

"This book needs to be a series!"
    Any additional comments?

This listen was the perfect blend of light-hearted comedy with a strong female lead and the best male specimen ever. When it was over, I wanted more.

There were a variety of relationship entanglements that kept the listen interesting and the story flowing. The narrator was really good as well.

The only downside to this listen is that there is no book two. I would love to see Delila, the main character, as a full time PI. Her supporting cast had some interesting backstory's as well. I know this author does books in a series so I can only hope. Fingers crossed.
