Publisher's summary

In A Measure of Mercy by acclaimed author Lauraine Snelling, 18-year-old Astrid Bjorklund’s opportunity for formal medical study in Chicago doesn’t arrive until shortly after her heartthrob Joshua Landseer returns to Blessing, North Dakota. They agree to exchange letters while she’s in Chicago. And, for a time, love blossoms—until the letters from Joshua stop coming. Convinced he no longer loves her, Astrid makes an impetuous and heart-wrenching decision.

Wonderful til the end!

As always, I love Lauraine Snelling, the only thing that I don't like is that it is hard to find what order to read her books in because even though she has 3 and 4 books in a series, they all are one great big story! So this book is a piece of the big story and I plan on continuing on so the ending didn't disappoint me as much as others. I would only read these books as a whole series and not individually. I love the books and highly recommend starting from the beginning!

Correct pronunciation

I am not saying this is not the way this word was pronounced in the early days of settling this country, but growing up in the West on a cattle ranch and a farm where we cut hay, etc, but the narration of the term “hay mow” was not pronounced as the word ‘now’ but as the word ‘row’, such as rowing a boat. We don’t mow-how the lawn or the field of hay, but we mow-row the hay the same as we mow the lawn . I really am not being critical because I love Ms. Snelling’s books and have read or rather listened to almost all of them. It’s just that as a young (😂) 72 yr old woman, I cringe every time a word is mispronounced. And I’m willing to admit that I may be totally wrong, and if so, I sincerely apologize. I hope to listen to many more of Lorraine Snelling’s books.

Love Lorraine

I love the style of writing. Wholesome, clean, honest stories but not without intrigue.

Good story

I enjoyed this story because of the closeness of her family. It was interesting to learn some of the ways of their culture.

Magical

Such an inspirational story that drew me in quickly. Astrid wants to become a doctor and has been assisting the local doctor in town, ELizabeth. But she needs to travel to Chicago to finish her training. Her trials and tribulations warm the heart and you cannot help but hope all comes out well for her...

Great story! Abrupt ending.

I loved the story. The caring and concerns shown in the hearts of the characters made them real to me. I was frustrated with the abrupt ending.

Thank you Laraine Snelling!!! Such inspiration

What did you love best about A Measure of Mercy?

I love the constant dependance on God for guidance. I know my faith is growing just listening to such great examples of how to serve God and treat others as God would have us.

Have you listened to any of Stina Nielsen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Wonderful narrator!

Any additional comments?

I wish there was a guide to the order of the books. I have listened out of order to several and think it would have been even better in order.

A Measure of Mercy by Lauraine Snelling

This is the first book I read by this author. When I began this book, it started as if there were missing pieces to a puzzle. Then I realized this first book in this series was continued from another series, and then from another series. Personally, I don't like it when authors do this. Also, I felt the book was more fitting for a young teenager or pre-teen rather than adult fiction. Parts of the book are very very boring. The best part of the book is this audible version narrated by Stina Nielson. Stina Nielson is one of my favorite narrators. She does well distinguishing characters, etc.
