Addie Bryant is haunted by her past of heartbreak and betrayal. After her beau, Isaac Hanson, left the Yukon, she made a vow to wait for him. When she's sold to a brothel owner after the death of her father, Addie manages to escape with the hope that she can forever hide her past and the belief that she will never have the future she's always dreamed of.

Years later, Addie has found peace in her new life as a photographer, training Camera Girls to operate and sell the Brownie camera. But during the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Expo in Seattle, Addie is reunited with Isaac. And when her past catches up with her, Addie must decide whether to run or to stay and face her wounds in order to embrace her life, her future, and her hope in God.

Bestselling author Tracie Peterson pens a tender tale where forgiveness, faith, and love conquers all.

This is a book that will be impossible to put down. I finished listening and reading along in one day. The narrator did an outstanding performance bringing this book to life. Addie was such an easy character to adore. She fought her way through a life that was so tragic. It was difficult to read about the abuse she had to endure. Thank goodness for the female support along with Isaac that guided her through such rough, cruel, and wicked treatment. God became her companion thanks to Addie's friends. To reach the end of this book with such a special ending was worth the pain it took to read how badly Addie was treated. The second book in this series will be my next read after finishing book one. I so love Tracie Peterson's books.

What a magnificent story of perseverance and endurance.

I love being able to get a book that draws me into the story and keeps me connected to the character. Tracie Peterson has a gift for doing exactly that. Leah Horowitz did a wonderful job narrating the story and keeping me engaged. Now on to Book 2 in the series.

Love this Book

This story was really educational about the history of the Yukon and the development of Seattle. As well as the realities of life at the turn of the 19th century for women. Also all the amazing inventions that enhanced every day life. The only problem I had with the audio narration was the voice of Pearl and her husband…the voices made them seem decades older than 45.

Kept me on the edge of my seat!

What a beautiful story about forgiveness and redemption. Thank God He forgives and forgets, loving us unconditionally. He buries our sins in the depths of the sea. We can start anew in our new life in Him. This story is so well written. The characters convey this message. Beautiful.

Wonderful story

I loved everything about this book. I love how God works in the lives of the characters, helping and changing lives. Reminds us how women were treated unkindly and did not control their own lives. Thank God for great changes in much of our world. Great read. I enjoyed this book and all books written by this author. Such a great gift from God.

Beautiful.
