Publisher's summary

Dinah Taylor has an orderly life that is just how she likes it. A perfectly furnished luxury apartment, a satisfying career as a scientist and CEO of her own company, and an uncomplicated personal life. But all of that changes when she meets seven-year-old Jonah. The boy shows up one day, a scruffy dog by his side, in front of her office building. Dinah knows nothing about kids and even less about animals, but after she buys him breakfast, he shows up the next day...and the next. She tries to learn more about him, to help him, but he's remarkably skilled at evading her questions. And then, late one night, he calls her in a panic - his dog has been badly injured. Dinah rushes them to a local animal clinic, where she meets Garret, a veterinarian with a thriving practice and a passion for drawing. Though Jonah takes to Garret right away, for some reason neither understands, Dinah and Garret just don't mesh. But for Jonah's sake, their lives continue to collide, and slowly the relationship between these three strangers begins to change.

Wonderful sheart wrenching story

Have read many books by this author but I must say that this story really did make tears come to my eyes. Jonah being left an orphan an Dinah being blindsided into a guardian ship she was not prepared for made for an excellent storyline. The author definitely did not let this reader down. Intend to add the book to my book case collection of her books that I already have for easy second reading

Good story, but

There were times the narrator sounded like she was reading a grocery list. It was still worth my time though. Since I want to have the ability to have Christian fiction to choose from I don't want to give too harsh a review.

Enjoyable story

Only reason I did not Give five stars on the story is because of its nonbiblical view on important matter of salvation and their celebration of Easter. Obviously denominational teachings… Which was not unexpected. Just wish it would stick to the Scriptures for their doctrine.

Such a sweet read!

My first by this author, but won't be my last. I was pleasantly surprised by her character development and details in the settings. I felt like I could literally "watch" as the story unfolded.

Loved the story

Really enjoyed listening. Grief comes in many forms. Loss is part of life. Knowing how to deal with it is complex. Very well written.

Almost Flawless

The FDA problem was implausible because an ad hoc committee can't tell the FDA to demand a retest and that they have to test as a drug they first have to review their findings and would have a) re-asserted that it's only a food supplement (CYA works both ways here they wouldn't admit they got it wrong the first time) b) the worst they could have done was demand that Dina's Co show what grounds they have for making false claims sort of like "So, when did you stop beating your wife" all they then would have to do is prove that it was a sick and perverted press making those claims not them which they could have done by sending them a recording of the press conference refer them to the findings the FDA had already approved and their literature and then sent them a recording of the second interview. Then they could demand of the ad hoc committee and the FDA upon what authority they had launched this obstructive and illegal action to obstruct progress for a health food supplement.
Also the boy Jonah was more grateful which made some of his angry dialog when he was grieving a bit awkward I think it would have contributed to the story for both of these to take a bit longer to show her and Jonah's growth through the grieving process and also how garret would have grown closer to them both with his very effective prayers and shepherding which would also encourage her to seek both the attorney's legal assistance and God's wisdom in helping her grow a back bone sticking up for her rights without losing her compassion. But, that's just my opinion.
