Publisher's summary

If you’re different enough, the night is not your enemy, the darkness is not intimidating, the shadows are not terrifying. You fear nothing.

Christopher Snow is different from all the other residents of Moonlight Bay, different from anyone you’ve ever met. For Christopher Snow has made his peace with a very rare genetic disorder that leaves him dangerously vulnerable to light. His life is filled with the fascinating rituals of one who must embrace the dark. He knows the night as no one else can - its mystery, its beauty, its terrors, and the eerie silken rhythms that seduce one into believing anything - even freedom - is possible.

Until the night Christopher Snow witnesses a series of disturbing incidents that sweep him into a violent mystery only he can solve, a mystery that will force him to rise above all fears and confront the many-layered secrets of Moonlight Bay and its strange inhabitants. A place, like all places, that looks a lot different after dark.

a bit too wordy

koontz narrative is peppered with lengthy descriptive passages that becomes tedious, otherwise a good yarn with a flat ending....albeit a sequel is ready to go....

Very Pleased

I'm so glad I got this one ! I really enjoyed the narrator's performance. He has a very nice cadence and did the characters great justice. The story itself was very good. I'd read it before. listening was a much better experience.

Entertaining but not his best

The writer seems to be watching himself, especially with the surfer references. it seems a little contrived and doesn't flow naturally.

Narrate like people talk

I love Dean Koontz, he is superb. I remember reading these books years ago and I really liked them. Health problems have made it very difficult for me to read, so I use Audible. This narrator is not so good. I can’t tell if he’s trying to put me to sleep, or bore me to death. I have had to rewind soooo many times because I’ve completely spaced out. Anyway, two days into it and I’m on chapter three...Again? Still? I’m sorry I bought both books available at Audible.

Koontz is back

I’ve sworn off Dean for a while now because I was disappointed with his work but I was glad to listen to this one. Welcome back Dean

Why A New Narrator?

This is one of my all-time favorite novels. I used to have the original audiobook of this on tape two or three decades ago. it was narrated by Keith Szarabajka and was absolutely flawless. his voice became that of Christopher snow. which is why I was horrified to find out that the books had been re-recorded with a new narrator. I never understood why publishing houses ever thought this necessary. I'm extraordinarily disappointed that I could not find the original narration. I only think god that I still have the original narration for Seize the night.

So-So

Narrator could read with a little more enthusiasm. Story was ok. There were times when I had to rewind back because I would become board with the monotone reading.
