Publisher's Summary

A five-time Moth GrandSLAM winner and bestselling novelist shows how to tell a great story - and why doing so matters.

Whether we realize it or not, we are always telling stories. On a first date or job interview, at a sales presentation or therapy appointment, with family or friends, we are constantly narrating events and interpreting emotions and actions. In this compelling book, storyteller extraordinaire Matthew Dicks presents wonderfully straightforward and engaging tips and techniques for constructing, telling, and polishing stories that will hold the attention of your audience (no matter how big or small). He shows that anyone can learn to be an appealing storyteller, that everyone has something “storyworthy” to express, and, perhaps most important, that the act of creating and telling a tale is a powerful way of understanding and enhancing your own life.

THIS is your storytelling book!

I’ve read at least five books on Storytelling now, and this book bests them all. Matthew entertains throughout while giving practical strategies for crafting a great story. I was genuinely sad when the book ended.

Thought provoking

Best thing I can say is this, it's makes you want to be a storyteller. His belief that if you are in front of people and not engaging them, then you are stealing their time, is thought provoking.

Incredible!

This book was life changing for me! So much wisdom and helpful information. Truly one of the best books on storytelling I've ever read/listened to. I bought both the ebook and audiobook because it's that good! The author is funny, so the book is entertaining as well as informative. I could see "Storyworthy" being used in a course on communication. A must read for anyone who functions in the real world or wants to speak from the stage!

So good! Practical and inspiring

I loved this book. I have always loved stories and incorporate them into presentations, sales calls and of course, around the dinner table. Matthew brings a very practical and inspiring method to collecting our stories in their roughest forms and then gives wonderful tips on ways to polish those rough stones into gems.

I’m sure I will listen to this book at least one more time! Be sure to check out his podcast as well—Speak Up.

This book May change your life

Like one of those inspirational life changing honest stories that you may hear by chance, this book has inspired me to pursue a life long crave. To change the way I relate to the people I love. But this journey will take you to your self discovery, story by story discovering the fabric of your own life narrative. A great book on its own right, a seminar on storytelling, so many things revealed about the stories told and what do people listen to, the structure of a story. The value for your life is immense, nothing is more important than the story you tell, the meaning you find on your life, the understanding you will do looking for stories from the past. Some people go the mountains to meditate to find themselves, I would suggest looking for the stories of the events that made you who you are today of more value. But I like to sit in silence and contemplation and write, maybe you will find this amusing as well and discover a thing or two about yourself. Enjoy.
