Publisher's Summary

The first shifter in the Pyte/Sentinel series:

As the top Alpha male of Boston, it's Drew's job to keep his Pack safe, keep the humans from finding about their existence, try to pretend that he was fine with the way that his life was going, and, most importantly, not give in to the urge to kill Kara, the thorn in his side for way too long.

When fate steps in one night and destroys his world, he strikes back, but his new mate is more than he can handle....

Mixing with the Enemy

This one is shorter than the other stories, so you're left with wanting more. And since I'm not really a fan of shifter romances, I was delighted to conclude that Drew is such a great character. I found myself liking him more so than the pain in the ass (PITA) heroine. Later on we find out why Kara is the way she is: survival. The weak are weeded out, while the strong get left alone. The world of the shifters is harsh and unforgiving. It's unfair and prejudicial, archaic and without remorse. But the love between the two fated mates transcends all of that. It reunites them with our beloved Sentinel/Pyte gang. Once again, we find out how far one would be willing to go in order to protect his mate, even if it means giving it all up to side with the enemy.

One of the best books I have read in a long time. I advise the whole series. But, I want the other stories that is hinted at the end of book 3 about Lisa!

Another great book in the series

I love R.L. Mathewson's writing. This is a great series, each book at some point brings in the characters from the other books in the series but not before the characters have been built in the current book. It all comes together very nicely. Narration is awesome.

Great shifter addition to the series.

Mathewson is really creative with the series storyline. Each book is fresh while folding in the awesome previous characters. I really hope Mathewson gives Kale his own story. As for Fated, Mathewson does a great job of developing Drew and Kara.

🌻A bit different, from the others!🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻 I’ve really enjoyed this series, so far. This book was a bit different from the previous books, in that, the Hero and Heroine were shifters. Therefore, there are different rules for their matings, however, the author does a good job describing them. In this particular book, the Hero and Heroine’s relationship is an enemies to lovers type story and the couple spend a lot of the early chapters taking verbal shots at each other; it’s pretty funny, at times! This book lacks the action and adventure of the earlier books and the ending was lacking substance, however, I’m hoping that the final book might shed some light on their future.

So much potential but ....

I had to give the story a 3 because it’s was rushed in many areas. I did really enjoy this one overall but it seems like a stand alone. It doesn’t really fit with whole series. I like the character build up/ development of so many supporters to previous main stories. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen those stories. It just seems building up is done but resolutions are missing. I found the female character better in this story. Overall it’s good and worth listening to is you’re into the series.

Good story

It doesn’t really tie in too much to the previous books. A few things seemed glossed over and rushed. I still liked the book and I’d like to know what’s going on with Jill & Joshua.

pyte/sentinel? Or a NFH book?

Like the book. But, it isn't a pyte/sentinel book in my opinion. It reminds me too much of the neighbours from hell books ( That I liked). Nevertheless, this is supposed to be different. So far there hasn't been a pyte or sentinel in it. Shifters, yes (Not Cale) and it isn't like the other books. So, sentinels we're in it later on ( way later) but no one we knew. However, during the last 20 minutes of the book both pyte/sentinels were in it...including a sexy alpha werewolf with a tendency to steal chocolate. Ephraim, Chris and Cale make an appearance. In my opinion, I found this to be the most exciting part of the book. Maybe because I didn't know the other characters before their story, but I wasn't as in to it as the other ones.

Dreadful

What disappointed you about Fated?

I am normally a big fan of R L but this book is so bad that if you told me that it had been written by a 'ghost ' writter it would explain everything. The characters are not complete. Cara goes between really strong (she rips out a throat) to wet and baby like. Drew is not really likeable. The story takes ages to get going then stops. You spend chapters on vomiting and pregnancy....it moves a bit ....then yawn it happens again. The author drops bomb shells ...'in pure' and then it takes chapters of you wondering what that was about, until it was explained again. The dialogue is rehashed constantly ....rip his balls off!!! Seriously it got to the stage where listening to it put my teeth on edge with the same old phrases. For me this turned into car crash TV.....I kept listening thinking 'it must get better' but trust me ...it didn't.All in all this book is dreadful. The plot is week and poorly thought out. Some things are not explained. The characters are annoying and hard to relate to. The dialogue is lazy and rehashed which I might have forgiven if the story was better. Worst of all it is 8 hours of my life that I can never get back. The Editor who approved this needs to be sacked. R L ....I am really disappointed...either sack your ghost writter or go back to what you do best as this is not worthy of you.

What could R. L. Mathewson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Plan out the story!!!!

Would you be willing to try another one of Celestine Wolf’s performances?

Yes...the narrator I think did a reasonable job considering how dire the story was

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Fated?

The entire book

Any additional comments?

Personally I think their should be more quality checks. I know when I buy some authors that the story will be weak but the romance and sex will be hot. Not this author she is normally very professional so I resent paying good money for awful.
