satisfactory little story

This was an enjoyable book with a decent narrator. It has some original ideas and seems to be leaning in the direction of Tower Defense rather than immersion mmo. Lots of character and backstory development, but not much in the way of forward progression.

I will give the next book a fair chance as I did enjoy this one. It's not perfect, but it's enjoyable.

EDIT: u upon a second listen, my first review was unfairly harsh. this is a well-written book that is clearly setting up a larger series, as such it spends some time world building and establishing the personality of its main characters. I eagerly look forward to the next in the series.

Different

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This book was really good in a different kind of way. I loved Daniel and I loved the premise of the book. I will definitely be looking for the other books in the series

Interesting

Good story and narration!

Daniel is the orphaned son of two mages that were famous heroes of the Empire. His grandfather - the Headmaster at the mage's collage has made him hide his identity his whole life, but now it is time for his test to become a full fledged Essence Weaver. It is his time to shine, but things are not all what they seem and his life is about to change...

Robert does a good job with the narration.

This was an interesting story about an angsty young man who grew up without ever knowing his parents. It is set up to be the beginning of what could prove to be an epic series.

I look forward to seeing how the story progresses.

A Great Entry to a Series

I really enjoyed the book. The plot flowed well, the world had depth, and the magic system was interesting. The beginning was a bit boring, but its worth sticking around to the end.

Great listen!!

Another top tier story by this author, though a little short in length, hopefully the next book is longer!! This new narrator to the scene did a amazing performance! Hopefully he does other books, his variety of voices brought the story to life! My one and only complaint is Men(boys) don’t curtsy, they bow. I highly recommended this book and look forward to more from this author. His imagination is on point!

the enjoyable summoner\builder story I wanted

So first off, I was given na free copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

The story starts out a little slow but once it gets going it goes. I especially liked the magic system. without giving a spoiler it's part tower defence part summoner, at least the main characters magic. So far the only character that was in the whole book was the main character but I see some good possible returning characters in the grandfather's and the scouts. I highly recommend you give this story a shot!

flat and uninteresting

I revisited this book again after listening to another by this author, however it was just dull and boring mc, additionally the cadence of the narrator was really disruptive and did not contribute positively to the listening of this book
