Publisher's summary

In a blink, I found myself in an unknown land, greeted by the textbox of an unfriendly system.

It wanted me to become a great hero, save the world, win the love of the people and all that crap. But this new world already had a hero. Why should I bust my ass and deal with dragons and the unknown for people I didn't know? Let him deal with that. It's his job! So instead of being tempted by the system's nonsense, I chose a simple class. Potion maker. I wasn't interested in cultivating mana and defying the heavens, courting death, none of that crap.

Unfortunately, the town I spawned near was suffering crippling inflation, merchants and people were leaving, and they themselves lacked high-demand businesses. The town would soon be going under.

Not if I have anything to say about it.

But will it be that easy to escape fate?

Novel contains: strong MC in a slice-of-life environment, dungeon diving, boss battles, cultivation and elements, mana/magic, MC-exclusive system but it doesn't do the work for him, treasures, adventurers, slow world building, build-up, features that will not be introduced all at once (upgrades so on), actual good loot at the end of very powerful bosses, and romance (no harem). As characters develop throughout the series, issues and emotions and even the MC may find himself in a corner or two. A story of an upcoming potion shopkeeper and his apprentices.

Building an S-ranked potion shop is easier said than done....

Couldn’t resist!

I knew I needed to read this because of the author. But I’m still surprised how much I enjoyed it since the “I’m extremely powerful but I just want to do my own thing and ignore everything else,” trope usually bugs me beyond belief!
But after I fell off my high horse, mainly because the stones I was going to throw were just too heavy, I found myself enjoying this book a lot!

Especially the characters around the MC. They are fun and grow on you. Our favorite animal companions and the added treat of having dialogue for them was so hilarious and adorable!

The narrators also did a tremendous job! Able to give us the anime feel without having characters that have voices that make your ears bleed! Piper saves you from that fate and gives us unique character voices with nuance.
The same with the male narrator!
Both narrators bring the words and emotions to life.

Looking forward to the next book coming out on audible!

Fun and funny book

Poor OP MC just wants to live a quiet life, making potions and helping to rebuild the small town he wandered into.

A very fun, light story that I honestly, cannot get enough of. I'm really looking forward to the next in the series.

just great

One of the funniest books I've listened to in a while. Allie and Matt did a wonderful job with the narration too.

Absolutely love this book and series thus far!

Rise of the Cheat Potion Maker, Book 1 in the series, is an excellent introduction for me to Alvin Atwater. This is quite the adventure, the characters are really fun, and the world is well developed. The story and plot move at a good pace too. I look forward to what Alvin has in store for us next! Audio Version: Matt Hicks and Allie Piper both did a great job with this story and their characters!

I enjoy this novel so much

It’s more of light Isekai style. I enjoy the whole cast. The narrators were very great with there voices. Characters were very fun.

Fun story, okay performance

this is an enjoyable book with a fun story about the typical LitRPG hero who wants to do their own thing (it's the other trope, compared to diving face first into the system). The characters are fun and lively, and it's easy to get lost in the story...other than one aspect. At least for me. Matt Hicks sort of ruins this story. His voice is too self satisfied. Allie delivers a great performance, but she's seriously let down by her partner in the reading. I hope that this series continues, but that they replace Matt with someone else.

just a ton of fun to listen too

tons of similarities between this book and the casual farmers series beware of chicken. I would say beware of chicken is better done but this book is a fun listen none the less.
