Fantastic

The main character can be slow to learn but he always gets there, have to keep in mind he supposedly retired. Good book from a good author. Excited for the last and man do I wish that short story was fleshed out as a spin off, perhaps set in the past in what would've become Haven. Thoroughly enjoyed!

Following trends

Right now farming litrpg that are doing excellent and this book follows that trend. It’s a slice of life slower development story that’s quite enjoyable. Mc is definitely not op and side characters definitely don’t cater to his every idea, so it should satisfy some of the more picky readers

SO FUN, Brilliantly done.

This is a brilliantly depicted, charming, relaxing read that I loved getting lost in. The dialogue and feel are real, despite being an obvious LitPRG, complete with regular stats updates and missions, etc. It’s very well done and somehow plausible. It’s mostly set in a small town that I’d love to live in, packed with lots to love! I’ll do my best to list them:

Excellent. will absolutely be reading on in this series, if I can swing more audio-copies. Being submerged in this world while working made my job so much easier.

Audio:
The audio is AMAZING! Both narrators are absolutely perfect, using different voices and accents for different characters. One even sings a bit, and it’s not bad. 5-stars.
Marcus is now one of my favorite narrators—I think this is the best narration I’ve ever heard.

Slice of Life story mixed with Litrpg.

I really like the store. That it was a new chapter in someone's life journey different than anything they had done before. Looking forward to continuing the story. I wish the narrator had performed it a bit differently but that's just a style choice.

This is a great book, If you like Light Novels this book is for you Alexa and Marcus are a great combo.

First 2 chapters are pointless. Lots of repetition. 60 year old man sounds 80, 15 year old boy sounds 10. Cid doesn't understand farming, as we are told again and again. I don't think the author understands farming. It's a slog to get through.

What it says on the tin.

This is, as it claims, a wholesome slice-of-life story. I think it's important to know that from the start. If you're looking for a prophesied savior of humanity coming of age just in time to do the allegedly impossible, this isn't the story you're looking for. It involves a fair amount of gamified farm life, so of course it's not an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride that keeps you up at night (in my experience, at least). It's a low-stress listen that nevertheless manages to be interesting, novel, and exciting in its own way. If you know this and you're still interested, you'll love it.

That's not to say it's without flaws. There are a few instances where either the writing or the narration could have used another editing pass. But those were few enough that they didn't really impact the story; I mention them just to set expectations for those who would be bothered by such things.

Overall, I definitely recommend this book to anyone still reading. If you're looking for a charming story about a seasoned city guard who retires to what he thinks will be a simple life of farming, clearly doesn't realize how challenging that life can be, but has the grit to learn anyway, then you'll love it. It's clear that the parties involved enjoyed making it, and that makes it even better.

Great start to an fun adventure!

I very much enjoyed listening to this book, and am excited about the next installment! I already have it on Pre-Order. Hopefully, I can last another couple of weeks. ;)

A great slice of life Farming LitRPG

MC retires from being a city guard after 20 - 30 years and buys a farm out in the country.
Of course the farm and the quaint little town he moves to are not what they seem.
Wonderful story.
5 stars.
