Publisher's summary

At long last, Earth has a handful of starships. Surrounded by Rebel Kher, Imperials, and the mysterious Nomads, humanity dares to assert our right to independence.

The interstellar community reacts harshly. In the eyes of our neighbors, we’re upstarts, dangerous beings who don’t know our place.

For the Kher, freedom can only be won through battle. War fleets arrive to instruct us, and Captain Leo Blake is again sent out to voyage among hostile stars.

We’re far from ready, but the time has come. It’s game on.

A great escape from reality!

Well written, characters were quickly as familiar as good friends at a local bar. The overall story of humanity as the underdog was enjoyable against the standard trope of humanity always being somehow superior. a great listen.
Mark Boyett as always, did a fantastic job narrating this wonderful story. His command of characterization and gender differences was superb!

Another masterpiece by BVL

Awesome book. Story to the bone. So great to listen another book by Larson without some other boring author like David Vanduke, which gives no story and only boring details. Good job Larson and M Boyett!!

this series gets better and better

this series has become my favorite series on audible. the books are very written, no boring or dull parts nor is it rushed constant action that is hard to keep up with.
the narration is top notch. every character has a unique voice, conversations are filled with emotion, the narrator makes you feel like you are right there as everything happens. i would absolutely give this book and the entire series a 10/10

This stilll works for me

I certainly hope there is more of this series to come. A bit of a sense that too much new technology was given away to the foes. Will miss the characters until a new book is available

the challenge of ending a book-series...

not the easiest thing in the world, ending a multi-book series, especially so, since Boyette so thoroughly develops his characters that you feel like you know each of them intimately.

great series. mediocre ending (its suite clear theres no follow-up, book-5, to come).

I'd recommend.
