Publisher's summary

The ultimate prepper's adventure. The journey begins here!

Nathan Owens was just topping up his tank when the gas pump stopped working. So did the radio. And the lights. Then planes starting falling out of the sky, and plutonium-powered satellites began to explode.

A massive solar storm - the Coronal Mass Event that had been predicted for years - finally hit Earth, and the electromagnetic pulse it created instantaneously threw the world back to the Bronze Age. Soon, the radioactive fallout from space would spread death and disease across the globe.

Owens and his friends had been preparing for something like this for years, and now it had finally happened. But when it came, it came at the worst possible time. He was 1,000 miles away from his family and his redoubt - and it was his only chance to survive the dark days ahead. If he ever hoped to escape, he would have to draw together a team of survivalists to save those nearby before he could even begin the last, most important journey of his life.

And there was one thing he hadn't counted on at all: the EOTWAWKI wasn't just a natural disaster. There was a sinister, almost omnipotent human force, behind it...and it wanted him dead.

just black and white and nothing between

story is well written, but lacks depth, all characters are bland and very conviniently made to look main character good. protagonist never really is forced to make any choice because other characters are purely good or poor evil. also main character somehow is perceived by everyone like santa klaus and is worshiped like a god and despite relatively young age patronizes everyone and acts like some elderly wise main showing some heathens error of their ways.
i still want to know what happens next, also i saw that some future books has allen as co-author, so that brings hope.

One of the better books I’ve listen to

I enjoyed this book so much I purchased the rest of the series before listening to book two. I have laughed and made remarks out loud, happy no one was around to see me.

good story, a little too unrealistic sometimes

it was over all a good listen but could be far fetched at times, not in the totally unrealistic but a little too convienant realm.

great listen

one of the things that turns me on to a book is the narrator the narrator for this novel did a great job in my opinion of showing who the character is. I thought the story was very well and can't wait for the second book

And...

Really liked the story and I am looking forward to the next book.
This would have been a great book with a different narrator. Everyone is the same and there is no fluctuation in his voice.

Great story

To me Thomas Watson, is the best type of story teller. He mixes a vast amount of in depth detail into story form without the boring drowning of just adding stuff to add stuff. He make me feel like I'm in the story, can understand what the characters are referring to and finally makes, even the tactical and informational (gun stuff) interesting and easier to understand without been boring.
The story is fun, paced and at time absolutely hilarious!
