Publisher's summary

Ian and Lance are typical All-American teenagers: good at sports, martial arts, smart, and girl crazy. Best of friends, they are inseparable, when suddenly their lives are shattered. A meteor lands in Greenland with no warning, and with it comes new life. Ian and Lance's parents are stuck in Hawaii when the riots close in on their home. With their parents halfway across the world, the boys are abruptly forced to forsake their childhood in order to survive.

As the dead rise, hungry for flesh, the boys lose their innocence as they must fight their way to their parent's cabin, a place of safety in the dangerous new world. Without an adult to guide them, will Ian and Lance survive, or will they succumb to the plague of the undead?

Very juvenile

Was this written by a twelve year old that never had any parenting? The f bomb was used like a comma. So I guess the brothers wanted
the little sister could see how to use filthy language properly? I have worked heavy construction and an ex Marine, wow ! Try again mr. Watson !

this book started out VERY good.. UNTIL

Was really enjoying this book..started of very good UNTIL the trip to the cabin started.. The FOUL and shear amount of profanity basicly ruined the story... so..Mr. Author , if you want to sell books and have listeners loyalty.. STOP the unwanted and un-needed profanity..it DETRACKED from the story

Sophomoric, profanity laden, couldn't stand to finish the story. Don't waste your money, not worth it.

Great story. Great Characters. Great reading

I loved everything about this, and cannot wait for the next few books to come on audio! Please ignore all the reviews about the profanity ruining the story, I thought it gave it GRIT and made the story seem more life like. If you don't like it, read some sissy kids fairy tale book, because this isn't a fairytal or a kids book. Keep up the great work, ignore these haters!

It's interesting enough to finish...

Do you enjoy the language and sociopathy of a 10 year old online gamer? Then this is the book for you! You're going to love the ongoing tampon jokes.

Loved how this came to life!

Bought this for a road trip for my husband and I to listen to. We love Tommy's books and Eric A. Shelman is so easy to listen to! Lance and Ian are a little over the top but I think that is one of the reason's we loved it. Great job guys!

What teens really say during apocalypse.

I always love Watson's zombie books, let alone his others. This one really feels like what a few teens would actually sound and act like during a zombie apocalypse: far too much unnecessary cursing and immature decisions while thinking they know everything. Bit of a no-budget preppers wet dream, but it's fun to imagine.

No Innocence Lost

I read the reviews and still purchased thinking story would be pretty good. I think it was a good overall story but was lacking depth. Took the kids way too long to reach the cabin. Their unconcern and lack of remorse for killing people was not genuine.
I think even teenagers would find themselves very scared in this situation.
Wont get the next book unless it is the story of the parents trying to reach the kids at the cabin.

Aptly named

Innocence Lost, the first book in the Forsaken World Series, is a well-written, gripping post-apocalyptic thriller with excellent character development. The story is geared toward adults, even though the main protagonists are in their teens. The dialogue is witty; there is profanity, which I found authentic, given the genre.

Ian and Lance embark on the journey to their parent's cabin, the road travelled is brimming by the violent and rancid flesh-eating infected, "Stinkers," that would stop at nothing to get to them. The Stinkers are not the only threat, the dangerous and desperate humans, are just as, or even worse. The boys have no choice but to grow-up fast and survive, facing impossible odds and terrifying situation. Ultimately, losing their innocence.

Terrific narration by Eric A. Shelman, capturing the characters' personalities and intensity of the scenes, bringing the story to life. Overall, this was an entertaining and well-narrated audiobook, and I look forward to listening to the next book in the series.
