A Warhammer Horror audiobook

A disgraced warrior-priest who prowls the Greywater Fastness is forced to confront his past when a message from an old friend sends him on a perilous quest. In an isolated village full of untrusting souls, his darkest secrets threaten to come to light.

Listen to It Because:

Explore a corner of the Mortal Realms full of dangerous characters and dark secrets in a tale by Josh Reynolds, master of the sinister.

The Story:

Harran Blackwood was a Warrior-Priest of ruthless virtue. Now he's a man with a scorched reputation, prowling the back alleys of Greywater Fastness, content to fight the petty wars of racketeers for survival. But when a desperate message arrives from an old friend, Blackwood is forced to confront a past he thought long buried.

Summoned to the isolated village of Wald, Blackwood sets off on a perilous trek to ensure the sins of his former life remain forgotten. He soon discovers that Wald is a hostile, secretive place with sins of its own. Deep in the murky marshes, where the cruel chants of village folk echo and the stink of death hovers low, Blackwood must channel his bitterness and rage to defy the ancient darkness that now hunts him before he is devoured, body and soul.

The narrator gives this story an excellent atmosphere and does a great job conveying the horror of this setting. I totally recommend this book.

Great Warhammer Horror

It was quite good considering it was an Age of Sigmar book. That world and lore sucks big time! But it didn't delve too deep in to the lackluster lore and consentrated more on the characters and the plot. Jake Urry was awesome and very skilled in bringing the story to life. I would listen to it again just to listen to him tell the story.

Quite good but carried by Jake Urry

A solid mystery, twist I never saw coming, and a great delve into the new realms lore. Everyone is a bad guy, just like the 80’s intended.

Grimdark to the darkest.

This is a fantastic horror story. Gothic to the core. The narrator's performance felt like I was being threatened the entire time. With this slow malice to his voice. Really made the book for me.

I felt threatened the entire time

I love Black Library’s Horror genre. This book was probably by far one of the best ones, especially for those that are not familiar with Old World/AOS mythos. I thoroughly enjoyed the protagonist’s disposition and grit, his unfolding backstory in the form of flashbacks as important in revealing more and more as the story unfolded (the pacing was terrific as well). I was hesitant at first of spending the credit (I always take a look at the reviews first) but well worth it! If you are looking for a jaded character, a backwater town (which was as much a character as anything else), and unfolding a more sinister horror, this will not disappoint!

This story was very well read and very captivating! I loved the character build. it was a little slow in the middle but caught up towards the end and I greatly enjoyed it!

This story is worth a listen!

The narration seemed like it was dubbed at 3/4 speed. Had to listen to it sped up to keep it from being irritating.

Decent story, narration too slow

Never would have thought the slyvantleth were so horrifying and not to mention the other things lurking about in this story. Makes me wish this story continued.

Fantastic story

I love these because they get you to think and try to guess. This was exceptional in its enjoyment and props to Jake for his narrating; I prefer when narrators act instead of recite. I think this one is my fave outside the dramatized ones.

Couldn't stop listening.

Narration was excellent, story was mediocre but still entertaining. Descriptions of the environment and character interactions are very well done.

Underwhelming
